This study aimed to identify histamine-forming bacteria (HFB) and the sources of introduction such recommend control measures mitigate histamine formation in yellowfin tuna (YFT). Field samples were collected from multi-day boats that landed at Dikkowita, Negombo, Trincomalee Dondra fishery harbours. Ice fish holds (n=63) chill transport vehicles (n=63), swabs boat decks skin YFT collected. Fis...
The aim of the present study was to carry out a preliminary assessment for the occurrence of bacterial strains resistant to frequently used antibiotics in the sediments beneath the sturgeon cage farm in Kardzhali Dam (Bulgaria). Samples were taken from the top 2 cm of sediments under a fish farm and from a control station in the aquatory of the reservoir in the period July-October 2011. Surveil...
Twenty-five unique CfoI-generated whole-cell DNA profiles were identified in a study of 30 Paenibacillus alvei isolates cultured from honey and diseased larvae collected from honeybee (Apis mellifera) colonies in geographically diverse areas in Australia. The fingerprint patterns were highly variable and readily discernible from one another, which highlighted the potential of this method for tr...
A ceramic material suitable for packaging of large scale integrated circuit is produced by the process of forming a mixture of a powdered glass ceramic material which is a glassy precursor to cordierite ceramic material, formed by the steps which are as follows: a. Mix tetragonal phase material selected from the group consisting of zirconia or hafnia powder con taining a stabilizing oxide compo...
We have performed density functional calculations of oxygen incorporation and diffusion in monoclinic hafnia (HfO2) for a range of oxygen charge states. The calculations demonstrate that oxygen favors atomic incorporation and that O2- is the most stable species. We find that oxygen interstitials diffuse via exchange with lattice oxygen sites in hafnia, and that O- species have the smallest diff...
In gram-negative pathogens, extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) confer resistance to penicillins, cephalosporins (including extended-spectrum cephalosporins), and aztreonam, but not to cephamycins and carbapenems, and are inhibited by beta-lactamase inhibitors (8). Recently, cefotaximases have become the most prevalent ESBLs worldwide (7) and have also been detected in animals (see, for i...
