We begin a program of work aimed at examining the interior of a rotating black hole with a non–zero cosmological constant. The generalisation of Teukolsky’s equation for the radial mode functions is presented. It is shown that the energy fluxes of scalar, electromagnetic and gravity waves are regular at the Cauchy horizon whenever the surface gravity there is less than the surface gravity at th...

We derive the gravity duals of noncommutative gauge theories from the YangBaxter sigma model description of the AdS5×S superstring with classical r-matrices. The corresponding classical r-matrices are 1) solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation (CYBE), 2) skew-symmetric, 3) nilpotent and 4) abelian. Hence these should be called abelian Jordanian deformations. As a result, the gravity dua...

Gravity equations have been widely used to infer trade ow effects of various institutional arrangements. We show that estimated gravity equations do not have a theoretical foundation. This implies both that estimation suffers from omitted variables bias and that comparative statics analysis is unfounded. We develop a method that (i) consistently and efŽ ciently estimates a theoretical gravity...

A new simple and low cost passive navigation system can be composed of a rate azimuth inertial platform with a gravity sensor on it, a digital gravity abnormal map and a log. The system achieves the carrier’s true position by matching the gravity sensor measurements with the existing gravity maps, so the gravity field’s characteristics effects on the positioning accuracy greatly. The simplified...

I discuss the semiclassical approximation for the Wheeler–DeWitt equation when applied to the CGHS model and spherically symmetric gravity. Special attention is devoted to the issues of Hawking radiation, decoherence of semiclassical states, and black hole entropy. Dedicated to Tullio Regge on his sixty–fifth birthday. To appear in the Proceedings of the Second Conference on Constrained Dynamic...

– We investigate the exact renormalization group (RG) in Einstein gravity coupled to N-component spinor field, working in the effective average action formalism and background field method. The truncated evolution equation is obtained for the Newtonian and cosmological constants. We have shown that screening or antiscreening behaviour of the gravitational coupling depends crucially on the numbe...

An overview of the hydrodynamic profiles derived by kinetic theory tools (Boltzmann equation and kinetic models) for the gravity-driven Poiseuille flow with particles colliding either elastically (planar and cylindrical geometries) or inelastically (planar geometry) is presented. The results obtained through second order in the gravity acceleration show that the Navier–Stokes predictions are qu...

We determine the black hole quasi-normal mode spectrum for tensor perturbations in topologically massive AdS-gravity. In the special case of chiral gravity quasi-normal modes are absent despite of the presence of a horizon. In the process we uncover a simple algebraic structure in the quasi normal modes spectrum: the tower of QNM’s consists of descendents of a ”chiral highest weight” QNM which ...

By solving the weak field limit of Einstein’s Field Equation including the Cosmological Constant, under the constraint of spherical isotropy, it is shown that, at large cosmological distance, the gravitational force exceeds the one that is predicted by Newton’s gravity law, such that it corresponds with Milgrom’s MOND hypothesis. However, the resulting prediction that, at extremely large distan...

We develop the general theory of stars in Saa’s model of gravity with propagating torsion and study the basic stationary state of neutron star. Our numerical results show that the torsion force decreases the role of the gravity in the star configuration and increases the maximum of the neutron star mass up to 5− 6M⊙ depending on the equation of state of matter. gr-qc/9803084
