A frequency domain dynamic analysis is needed to obtain the response of structures constructed on a system of base isolators on flexible soil when subjected to earthquake ground motion. In such systems, the lateral stiffness of the base isolators is so small, compared to the structural stiffness, that in an earthquake attack the fundamental vibration mode dominates the response. With this in mi...
Modeling of frequency-dependent components of power system is often based on a terminal description by an admittance matrix in the frequency domain. One challenge in the extraction of state-space models from such data is to prevent possible error magnification when the model is to be applied in time-domain simulations. The error magnification is a consequence of inaccurate representation of sma...
This paper presents a new time-frequency based EEG seizure detection method. This method uses the distribution of interspike intervals as a criterion for discriminating between seizure and nonseizure activities. To detect spikes in the EEG, the signal is mapped into the time-frequency domain. The high instantaneous energy of spikes is reflected as a localized energy in time-frequency domain. Hi...
The high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and MIMO-OFDM systems reduces the system efficiency. In this paper, an extension of Tone Reservation (TR) method is introduced for PAPR reduction in Space Frequency Block Coded OFDM (SFBC-OFDM) systems. The proposed algorithm is based on a time domain kernel which is added to the signal of the anten...
Abstract Wind turbine generators (WTGs) occupy an increasingly larger share in power system. WTGs isolated grid lead to fluctuation and decrease system inertia. To reduce frequency deviation due or wind speed change, model of is established based on deloading control. Considering that will have institutional wear because frequent regulation, which would short the life WTGs, a robust control str...
Jensen’s inequality induces different forms of functionals which enables refinements for many classic inequalities ([5]). Several refinements of Jensen’s inequalities were given in [4]. In this paper we refine Jensen’s inequality by separating a discrete domain of it. At the end, we give some applications. Mathematics subject classification (2000): 26D15.
Let D be a domain in R2 with the Green function G(x, y) for the Laplace equation. We give a generalization of the Cranston-McConnell inequality concerning the integrability of positive harmonic functions on D. A typical new inequality is
In this note we prove a version of the classical Schwarz lemma for the first eigenvalue of the Laplacian with Dirichlet boundary data. A key ingredient in our proof is an isoperimetric inequality for the first eigenfunction, due to Payne and Rayner, which we reinterpret as an isoperimetric inequality for a (singular) conformal metric on a bounded domain in the plane.
We consider a variational inequality for the Lamé system which models an elastic body in contact with a rigid foundation. We give conditions on the domain and the contact set which allow us to prove regularity of solutions to the variational inequality. In particular, we show that the gradient of the solution is a square integrable function on the boundary.
In this paper we consider an isoperimetric inequality for the free perimeter of a planar shape inside a rectangular domain, the free perimeter being the length of the shape boundary that does not touch the border of the domain.
