Over the last decennia, many systems for formal argumentation have been defined. The problem, however, is that these systems do not always satisfy reasonable properties. In this paper, we focus on the particular property that a conflict between two arguments cannot keep other unrelated arguments from becoming justified. Although this property appears obvious, it is in fact violated by several e...
This paper presents strategies and conditions for non-failing persuasion using a dialogue model using argumentation. A novel concept of the predicted knowledge of the other agent participating in the dialogue is introduced. In the dialogue model, an agent’s knowledge is updated as the dialogue proceeds; an argumentation framework is constructed from the current knowledge; and only the content o...
In this paper, the theory of generic structures is put in a general, unified framework. The framework is applied to Hrushovski’s [8] universal domains and Poizat’s [11] bicoloured fields. Of particular interest will be the conditions under which generic structures are saturated.

Translations between different nonmonotonic formalisms always have been an important topic in the field, in particular to understand the knowledgerepresentation capabilities those formalisms offer. We provide such an investigation in terms of different semantics proposed for abstract argumentation frameworks, a nonmonotonic yet simple formalism which received increasing interest within the last...
We prove that the range of a symmetric matrix over GF (2) always contains its diagonal. This is best possible in several ways, for example GF (2) cannot be replaced by any other field.
In this research note, we introduce a graded BDI agent development framework, g-BDI for short, that allows to build agents as multi-context systems that reason about three fundamental and graded mental attitudes (i.e. beliefs, desires and intentions). We propose a sound and complete logical framework for them and some logical extensions to accommodate slightly different views on desires.
