The energy of a graph G is equal to the sum of the absolute values of the eigenvalues of G. We define the matching energy (ME) of the graph G as the sum of the absolute values of the zeros of the matching polynomial of G, and determine its basic properties. It is pointed out that the chemical applications of ME go back to the 1970s.
Let G be a vertex colored graph. The minimum number χ(G) of colors needed for coloring of a graph G is called the chromatic number. Recently, Adiga et al. [1] have introduced the concept of color energy of a graph Ec(G) and computed the color energy of few families of graphs with χ(G) colors. In this paper we derive explicit formulas for the color energies of the unitary Cayley graph Xn, the co...
For any $k in mathbb{N}$, the $k$-subdivision of graph $G$ is a simple graph $G^{frac{1}{k}}$, which is constructed by replacing each edge of $G$ with a path of length $k$. In [Moharram N. Iradmusa, On colorings of graph fractional powers, Discrete Math., (310) 2010, No. 10-11, 1551-1556] the $m$th power of the $n$-subdivision of $G$ has been introduced as a fractional power of $G$, denoted by ...
Expressions for the Zagreb indices and coindices of the total graph, semi-total point graph and of semi-total line graph of subdivision graphs in terms of the parameters of the parent graph are obtained, thus generalizing earlier existing results.
the chromatic number of a graph g, denoted by χ(g), is the minimum number of colors such that g can be colored with these colors in such a way that no two adjacent vertices have the same color. a clique in a graph is a set of mutually adjacent vertices. the maximum size of a clique in a graph g is called the clique number of g. the turán graph tn(k) is a complete k-partite graph whose partition...
in this thesis a calibration transfer method is used to achieve bilinearity for augmented first order kinetic data. first, the proposed method is investigated using simulated data and next the concept is applied to experimental data. the experimental data consists of spectroscopic monitoring of the first order degradation reaction of carbaryl. this component is used for control of pests in frui...
it is shown that when a special vertex stretching is applied to a graph, the cochordal cover number of the graph increases exactly by one, as it happens to its induced matching number and (castelnuovo-mumford) regularity. as a consequence, it is shown that the induced matching number and cochordal cover number of a special vertex stretching of a graph g are equal provided g is well-covered bipa...
The energy of a graph G, often denoted E(G), is defined to be the sum of the absolute value of the eigenvalues of its adjacency matrix. This graph invariant is very closely connected to a chemical quantity known as the total π-electron energy of conjugated hydrocarbon molecules. Very recently graph energy has become a quantity of interest to mathematicians, and several variations have been intr...
The skew energy of an oriented graph was introduced by Adiga, Balakrishnan and So in 2010, as one of various generalizations of the energy of an undirected graph. Let G be a simple undirected graph, and Gσ be an oriented graph of G with the orientation σ and skew-adjacency matrix S(Gσ). The skew energy of the oriented graph Gσ , denoted by ES(G), is defined as the sum of the norms of all the ei...
