In recent years the Open Data philosophy has gained a considerable momentum. In the public realm the free release of PSI datasets, besides enabling novel and promising forms of governmental accountability, paves the way to third-party developed products and services. Nevertheless, PSI re-use performed by private sector entrepreneurs is struggling to take-off due to the presence of numerous inhe...

Metabolomics approaches enable the parallel assessment of the levels of a broad range of metabolites and have been documented to have great value in both phenotyping and diagnostic analyses in plants. These tools have recently been turned to evaluation of the natural variance apparent in metabolite composition. Here, we describe exciting progress made in the identification of the genetic determ...

Understanding biodiversity distribution is a primary goal of community ecology. At a landscape scale, bee communities are affected by habitat composition, anthropogenic land use, and fragmentation. However, little information is available on local-scale spatial distribution of bee communities within habitats that are uniform at the landscape scale. We studied a bee community along with floral a...

This paper is based on swarm intelligence and chaotic dynamics for learning. We address this issue by considering the problem of path planning for mobile robots. Autonomous systems assume intelligent behavior with ability of dealing in complex and changing environments. Path planning problem, which can be studied as an optimization problem, seems to be of high importance for arising of intellig...

Many of the statistical methods currently employed to analyze fMRI data depend on a response template. However, the true form of the hemodynamic response, and thereby the response template, is often unknown. Consequently, cluster analysis provides a complementary, template-free method for exploratory analysis of multidimensional fMRI data sets. Clustering algorithms currently being applied to f...

Because cyberbullying is a relatively new phenomenon, its research base is not as well developed as research on traditional bullying. In this literature review, the auth...

Wagenmakers, Wetzels, Borsboom, and van der Maas (2011) argued that psychologists should replace the familiar “frequentist” statistical analyses of their data with Bayesian analyses. To illustrate their argument, they reanalyzed a set of psi experiments published recently in this journal by Bem (2011), maintaining that, contrary to his conclusion, his data do not yield evidence in favor of the ...

This report deals with a father and his son who developed acute renal failure following multiple bee stings. The renal lesion in these patients appears to be due to rhabdomyolysis caused by the bee venom. The other mechanisms are also discussed. The need for clinicians to be aware of acute renal failure as a complication of bee stings is stressed.
