The incidence of skin cancers is low in India when compared to the western world. Malignant transformation discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) a rare entity. Most common site head and neck. Our case reported disseminated DLE with malignant squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) lesion over arm axillary node involvement. We proceeded wide local excision dissection.

A female infant, born to a 21-year-old mother with systemic lupus erythematosus, had cutaneous discoid lupus at birth. The lesions resolved spontaneously over the first few months and by the age of 1 year the infant's skin was normal. Other possible complications of this maternal disease are discussed and the need for caution in counselling mothers is recommended.

Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is a chronic skin disease that may affect the eyelids. Unless suspected, these lid lesions may resemble chronic blepharitis and persist for years. We present the clinicopathologic features of DLE from the lids of seven patients, electron microscopic features of one case, and a review of 31 previously reported cases.
