Variation of fuel properties occurring during extreme fuel pressurisation in Diesel fuel injectors relative to those under atmospheric pressure and room temperature conditions may affect significantly fuel delivery, fuel injection temperature, injector durability and thus engine performance. Indicative results of flow simulations during the full injection event of a Diesel injector are presente...

Biodiesel is emerging as a promising substitute of an alternative fuel and has gained significant attention due to the predicted depletion of conventional fuels availability in near future and environmental pollution concern. Utilization of biodiesel produced from Jatropha oil by transesterification process is one of the most promising options to replace conventional fossil diesel fuel. The phy...

AbstractStringent emission norms and environment degradation due to pollutants from the automotive vehicles lead us to find the suitable alternative for the petro-diesel. The oxygenated fuel used is dibutyl ether(DBE). While injection pressure is 200 bar and injection timing is 20.5 0 BTDC we get higher brake thermal efficiency and lower brake specific fuel consumption for DBE10 compare to diesel.

BACKGROUND Diesel exhaust (DE) exposures are very common, yet exposure-related symptoms haven't been rigorously examined. OBJECTIVE Describe symptomatic responses to freshly generated and diluted DE and filtered air (FA) in a controlled human exposure setting; assess whether such responses are altered by perception of exposure. METHODS 43 subjects participated within three double-blind cros...

This study investigated the emission characteristics of ultrafine particles based on test bench and on-board measurements. The bench test results showed the ultrafine particle number concentration of the diesel engine to be in the range of (0.56-8.35) x 10(8) cm(-3). The on-board measurement results illustrated that the ultrafine particles were strongly correlated with changes in real-world dri...

Combustion is the main type of noise radiated from diesel engines. Several methods have been devised to reduce the noise levels. Fourier tranformation methods along with block attenuation curves have been used to study the correlation between cylinder pressure and noise radiated from engines. In this work wavelet method has been used to study noisee mitted from a dual injection diesel engine. T...

Introduction Currently, one of the major drawbacks of Diesel engines compared to classic gasoline engines is their noise. Legislation on maximum noise levels is becoming more stringent all over the world, and the demand for quiet engine designs is growing day by day. For these reasons, many efforts are being undertaken in order to reduce this disadvantage, especially as acoustical comfort now b...

The results of strength and gas dynamic improvement of turbocharger TK-32 axial turbine are presented. Turbocharger was manufactured by LLC “Penzadieselmash” (Penza, Russian) and is used as unit boost for diesel locomotive. The goal of this work was to ensure turbine work capacity when rotor speed is increased by 10% without efficiency reduction. The strain-stress state analysis indicated the r...

Experimental difficulties in following the soot formation and oxidation processes in the environment of diesel engines are recognised in the high values of the in-chamber temperature and pressure and the presence of extremely reactive intermediate species. At present, optical techniques have overwhelmed lacks typical of both local in-cylinder and totalcylinder samplings, which allow a high temp...
