We directly demonstrate an improvement in the radiative decay rate of dye molecules near multilayer hyperbolic metamaterials (HMMs). Our comprehensive study shows a radiative decay rate for rhodamine 800 (Rh800) that is several times higher due to the use of HMM samples as compared to dielectric substrates. This is also the first experimental demonstration that multilayer hyperbolic metamateria...
In this work, we consider a class of linear dissipative evolution equations. We show that the solution of this class has a polynomial rate of decay as time tends to infinity, but does not have exponential decay. c © 2004 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved. We prove a lower bound on the rate of relaxation to equilibrium in the H1 norm for a thin film equation. We find a two stage relaxation, with power law decay in an initial interval, followed by exponential decay, at an essentially optimal rate, for large times. The waiting time until the exponential decay sets in is explicitly estimated.
Padé-approximant methods are used to estimate the three-loop perturbative contributions to the inclusive semileptonic b → u decay rate. These improved estimates of the decay rate reduce the theoretical uncertainty in the extraction of the CKM matrix element |V ub | from the measured inclusive semileptonic branching ratio. In this paper we briefly review the development of Padé approximation tec...
We present a lattice QCD calculation of B → πlν semileptonic decay form factors in the small pion recoil momentum region. The calculation is performed on a quenched 163 × 48 lattice at β = 5.9 with the NRQCD action including the full 1/M terms. The form factors f1(v · kπ) and f2(v · kπ) defined in the heavy quark effective theory for which the heavy quark scaling is manifest are adpoted, and we...

Decline in postharvest losses of kiwifruit depended to maintain of quality characteristics during storage and transportation. Storage losses caused serious economic losses in kiwifruit. This study was conducted to inhibition of pathogen infection and increasing fruit quality of Kiwifruit. Hayward kiwifruits inoculated by B.cinerea conidia through pore wounds which formed by removal of the pedic...
In this article we study the pointwise decay properties of solutions to the wave equation on a class of stationary asymptotically flat backgrounds in three space dimensions. Under the assumption that uniform energy bounds and a weak form of local energy decay hold forward in time we establish a t−3 local uniform decay rate for linear waves. This work was motivated by open problems concerning de...
We study a white-noise driven integrate-and-fire (IF) neuron with a time-dependent threshold. We give analytical expressions for mean and variance of the interspike interval assuming that the modification of the threshold value is small. It is shown that the variability of the interval can become both smaller or larger than in the case of constant threshold depending on the decay rate of thresh...
Ventilation is essential to the health and comfort of occupants in enclosed spaces. However, it is difficult to accurately measure the ventilation rates in large, long, and narrow spaces such as aircraft cabins and train compartments. This study proposed a modified tracer-gas-concentration decay method that combined the multi-zone technique and genetic algorithm to determine ventilation rate in...
