thermo-elasto-plastic analyses of thick-walled spherical tanks made of functionally graded materials are investigated analytically. these tanks are subjected to positive or negative temperature gradient and internal pressure loadings separately or simultaneously. the power law modeling has been used for through-the-thickness variation of mechanical properties. von mises yield criterion and elas...

in this paper, a bidirectional associative memory (bam) neural network, which consists of two neurons in the x-layer and three neurons in the y-layer, with two time delays will be studied. we conclude that under some assumptions, hopf bifurcation occurs when the sum of two delays passes through a critical value. a numerical example is presented to support our theoretical results.

A critical review of experimental technique for measuring high pressures has been made. The broad coverage includes discussions relating to (a) the establishment of a primary pressure scale using the free-piston gage, (b) the selection and precise measurement of identifiable phase changes as fixed pressure points, and (c) the use of interpolation and extrapolation techniques such as resistance ...

The critical closing pressure (Pcrit) is the airway pressure at which the airway collapses and reflects the anatomical contribution to the genesis of obstructive sleep apnea. Pcrit is usually determined during non-rapid eye movement sleep at night, but has been determined under midazolam sedation during the day in the absence of sleep stage monitoring. Indeed, little is known about the effects ...

The effect of cerebral vasospasm (CVS) after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) on critical closing pressure (CrCP) has not been fully delineated. Using cerebral impedance methodology, we sought to assess the behavior of CrCP during CVS. As CrCP expresses the sum of intracranial pressure (ICP) and vascular wall tension, we also explored its role in reflecting changes in vascular tone occu...

Increased intracranial pressure (ICP) is a pathologic state common to a variety of serious neurologic conditions, all of which are characterized by the addition of volume to the intracranial vault. Hence all ICP therapies are directed toward reducing intracranial volume. Elevated ICP can lead to brain damage or death by two principle mechanisms: (1) global hypoxic-ischemic injury, which results...

OBJECTIVE Cerebral critical closing pressure (CCP) has been defined as an arterial pressure threshold below which arterial vessels collapse. Hypothetically this is equal to intracranial pressure (ICP) plus the contribution from the active tone of cerebral arterial smooth muscle. The correlation of CCP with ICP, cerebral autoregulation, and other clinical and haemodynamic modalities in patients ...
