Iatrogenic subclavian arteriovenous fistula is rare and has not been reported as a complication of plate osteosynthesis of clavicle fracture. This article describes the first case of iatrogenic subclavian arteriovenous fistula caused by plate osteosynthesis. A 36-year-old man sustained a right middle clavicle fracture in an injury and underwent open reduction and internal fixation with clavicul...

UNLABELLED Vascular access in haemodialysis is still accompanied by a high morbidity rate. Neointimal hyperplasia due to thrombosis is one of the main causes of vascular access failure. The purpose of this paper is to present the use of non-penetrating titanium clips (VCS) for the creation of an arteriovenous fistula and its outcome. MATERIALS AND METHODS A male patient, 47 years old, with en...

A 54-year-old African American male with no medical history presented to an urgent care clinic with signs and symptoms of new-onset congestive heart failure. There was an initial concern for congestive heart failure secondary to an ischemic etiology as an echocardiogram revealed a depressed ejection fraction. However, a left heart cardiac catheterization did not demonstrate any significant coro...

Arteriovenous fistula (AVF) dysfunction is one of the common obstacles in performing hemodialysis treatment. Acute and chronic thrombosis fistula, stenosis, hematomas are major causes dysfunction. Here, we present an unexpected complication midodrine use which caused AVF a female patient who was suffering from hemodialysis-related hypotension.

PURPOSE To examine the clinical and radiographic findings in a large group of patients having or suspected of having a spinal dural arteriovenous fistula. METHODS An analysis of 240 spinal angiograms in 132 patients revealed 97 vascular malformations that included 66 spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas. Sixteen patients had 1 or more normal spinal angiograms that were performed for suspected ...

Femoral arteriovenous fistula is a rare complication of percutaneous transfemoral catheterization. We report the duplex Doppler findings of three such cases. Continuous positive diastolic arterial flow, as well as an abnormal venous flow pattern, was observed in all cases. When present, these Doppler spectral changes support the diagnosis of arteriovenous fistula.

The MR findings in three patients with intracranial dural arteriovenous fistula associated with cervical myelopathy are described. The MR appearance of an enlarged cord with associated abnormal signal and enhancement is nonspecific and can simulate tumor, demyelination, and inflammation. Enlarged perimedullary vessels may not always be identifiable, but if present, should suggest the presence o...

BACKGROUND We report a unique case of an acquired pial arteriovenous fistula occurring after an asymptomatic thrombosis of a superficial cerebral vein. CASE DESCRIPTION A cerebral angiogram performed in a 51-year-old man with subarachnoid hemorrhage revealed a 10-mm ruptured anterior communicating artery aneurysm and a thrombosed left superficial middle cerebral vein. Coil embolization of the...

Iatrogenic arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is usually caused by inappropriate blood vessel cannulation during diagnostic and interventional procedures [1–3]. Arteriovenous fistulas occur in 1.0–1.5% of cases following procedures with femoral access (FA) [1, 4, 5]. Iatrogenic fistulas are unintentional connections between an artery and a vein due to the needle being advanced too deeply and reaching ...
