Nanocrystalline complex oxides have been synthesized by combination of sol–gel auto combustion and ultrasonic irradiation techniques using copper nitrate, zinc nitrate as metallic nitrates and glycine, urea and thiourea as fuels. Sol-gel combustion (combination of the chemical sol–gel process and the combustion process) as a proper synthesized technique is used to synthesize ZnO/CuO nanocomposi...

The enantioselective α-arylation of both lactones and acyl oxazolidones has been accomplished using a combination of diaryliodonium salts and copper catalysis. These mild catalytic conditions provide a new strategy for the enantioselective construction and retention of enolizable α-carbonyl benzylic stereocenters, a valuable synthon for the production of medicinal agents.

The enantioselective α-vinylation of aldehydes using vinyl iodonium triflate salts has been accomplished via the synergistic combination of copper and chiral amine catalysis. These mild catalytic conditions provide a direct route for the enantioselective construction of enolizable α-formyl vinylic stereocenters without racemization or olefin transposition. These high-value coupling adducts are ...

The structure of copper sites in Cu-SSZ-13 during NH3-SCR was unravelled by a combination of novel operando X-ray spectroscopic techniques. Strong adsorption of NH3 on Cu, its reaction with weakly adsorbed NO from the gas phase, and slow re-oxidation of Cu(I) were proven. Thereby the SCR reaction mechanism is significantly different to that observed for Fe-ZSM-5.

Deployment of solar fuels technology requires photoanodes with long term stability, which can be accomplished using light absorbers that self-passivate under operational conditions. Several copper vanadates have been recently reported as promising photoanode materials, and their stability and self-passivation is demonstrated through a combination of Pourbaix calculations and combinatorial exper...

This report describes a highly enantioselective oxidative sp3 C-H arylation of N-aryltetrahydroisoquinolines (THIQs) through a dual catalysis platform. The combination of the photoredox catalyst, [Ir(ppy)2(dtbbpy)]PF6, and chiral copper catalysts provide a mild and highly effective sp3 C-H asymmetric arylation of THIQs.

An enantioselective arylation-cyclization cascade has been accomplished using a combination of diaryliodonium salts and asymmetric copper catalysis. These mild catalytic conditions provide a new strategy for the enantioselective construction of pyrroloindolines, an important alkaloid structural motif that is commonly found among biologically active natural products.

Biological and chemocatalytic processes are tailored in order to maximize the production of sustainable biodiesel from lignocellulosic sugar. Thus, the combination of hydrotalcite-supported copper(II) and palladium(0) catalysts with a modification of the fermentation from acetone-butanol-ethanol to isopropanol-butanol-ethanol predictably produces higher concentrations of diesel-range components...

The enantioselective α-alkenylation of aldehydes has been accomplished using boronic acids via the synergistic combination of copper and chiral amine catalysis. The merger of two highly utilized and robust catalytic systems has allowed for the development of a mild and operationally trivial protocol for the direct formation of α-formyl olefins employing common building blocks for organic synthe...

A concise total synthesis of PDE-II featuring copper-mediated double aryl amination with the combination of CuI, CsOAc, and Cs2CO3 is described. The highly substituted pyrroloindole skeleton was constructed by a one-pot five-step sequence including double aryl amination, beta-elimination, deprotection of a Cbz group, and removal of an Ns group followed by rearomatization.
