Circular variables arise in a multitude of data-modelling contexts ranging from robotics to the social sciences, but they have been largely overlooked by the machine learning community. This paper partially redresses this imbalance by extending some standard probabilistic modelling tools to the circular domain. First we introduce a new multivariate distribution over circular variables, called t...

In this paper, the effect of footing shape resting on dry sand when subjected to machine dynamic loading is experimentally investigated. A laboratory set-up was prepared simulate case at different operating frequencies. Nine models were tested examine effects combinations two parameters, including frequencies (0.5, 1, and 2 Hz) shapes (circular, square rectangular). The tests conducted under a ...

The elastic instability of a circular plate adhering to an elastic foundation modeling the exposed surface of a biological cell resting on the cell interior is considered. Plate buckling occurs under the action of a uniform body force due to an overpassing simple shear flow distributed over the plate cross section. The problem is formulated in terms of the linear von Kármán plate bending equati...

Serratia marcescens WW4 is a biofilm-forming bacterium isolated from paper machine aggregates. Under conditions of phosphate limitation, this bacterium exhibits intergeneric inhibition of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Here, the complete genome sequence of S. marcescens WW4, which consists of one circular chromosome (5,241,455 bp) and one plasmid (pSmWW4; 3,248 bp), was determined.

We present here the genome sequence of the attenuated Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis strain T1. The sequencing was performed with an Ion Torrent Personal Genome Machine platform. The genome is a circular chromosome of 2,337,201 bp, with a G+C content of 52.85% and a total of 2,125 coding sequences (CDSs), 12 rRNAs, 49 tRNAs, and 24 pseudogenes.

We present the complete genome sequence of Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis strain N1. The sequencing was performed with the Ion Torrent Personal Genome Machine system. The genome is a circular chromosome with 2,337,845 bp, a G+C content of 52.85%, and a total of 2,045 coding sequences, 12 rRNAs, 49 tRNAs, and 58 pseudogenes.

This paper shows a new numerical technique for the FEM calculation of the electromagnetic torque in a rotating electric machine. This is an extension of the well-known Maxwell stress tensor method, applied to circular paths that lie entirely in the airgap of rotating machines. Applications allow to evaluate the effectiveness of the method.

Machine functions have been introduced by Earley and Sturgis in [6] in order to provide a mathematical foundation of the use of the T-diagrams proposed by Bratman in [5]. Machine functions describe the operation of a machine at a very abstract level. A theory of hardware and software based on machine functions may be called a machine function theory, or alternatively when focusing on inputs and...
