Intraosseous movement of an unerupted tooth across the midline of the jaw is known as dental transmigration. This infrequent event is mostly found in the mandibular canines. There are four new cases of mandibular canine transmigration presented here. The literature on this anomalous phenomenon is also reviewed.

UNLABELLED This randomized split-mouth study was aimed at evaluating whether an orthodontic appliance per se or orthodontic tooth movement can induce detectable changes in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) volume, and thus whether GCF volume is a predictable biomarker for tissue remodelling incident to orthodontic tooth movement. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixteen healthy orthodontic patients (7 fem...

A radicular cyst arises from epithelial remnants stimulated to proliferate by an inflammatory process originating from pulpal necrosis of a non-vital tooth. Radiographically, the classical description of the lesion is a round or oval, wellcircumscribed radiolucent image involving the apex of the tooth. A radicular cyst is usually sterile unless it is secondarily infected. This paper presents a ...

INTRODUCTION The long duration of orthodontic treatment is a major concern for patients. A noninvasive method of accelerating tooth movement in a physiologic manner is needed. The aim of this study was to evaluate of the efficacy of low-intensity laser therapy in reducing orthodontic treatment duration and pain. METHODS Twenty patients requiring extraction of first premolars were selected for...

INTRODUCTION The fracture strength of endodontically treated teeth compared to vital ones has long been a source of controversy. It is not clear how root canal therapy affects the stress distribution in teeth. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the changes in stress distribution after root canal therapy in a human maxillary canine by finite element analysis (FEM). MATERIALS AND METHODS...

OBJECTIVES To test the hypothesis that mechanical forces combined with low-level laser therapy stimulate the rate of orthodontic tooth movement. STUDY DESIGN This study was a double blind, randomized placebo/control matched pairs clinical trial to test the efficacy of GaAlAs low-level laser therapy (LLLT) on 12 young adult patients who required retraction of maxillary canines into first premo...

The aim of this study was to quantify the specific distal displacement of the gingival zenith in the maxillary anterior dentition. Bilateral measurements, taken with a digital caliper in maxillary stone casts were recorded in six maxillary anterior teeth to evaluate distal displacement of the gingival zenith in relation to the long axis of the crowns. The gingival zenith was distally displaced ...
