Background: Burns are common injuries that are usually covered with a layer of necrotic tissue called the eschar. Early removal of the eschar is the current standard of care, however, debridement using tangential excision is usually traumatic and may increase wound surface. In recent years a bromelain-based debriding agent called NexoBrid® that can remove the eschar selectively and thus causes ...
Tsutsugamushi Disease (Scrub Typhus) Meningoencephalitis in North Eastern India: A Prospective Study
BACKGROUND Scrub typhus is rampant in northern, eastern, and southern India. Central nervous system involvement in the form of meningitis or meningoencephalitis is common in scrub typhus. background and purpose: vitamin c is administered orally or intravenously for the treatment of burn wounds. however, effects of the topical application of vitamin c remain unclear. this study aimed to evaluate the effects of topical vitamin c solution on the necrotic tissue volume of second-degree burn wounds. methods: this clinical trial was conducted on 30 patients with second-degree burns ad...
Burn is a global public health problem associated with significant morbidity and mortality, mostly in low- and middle-income countries. Southeast-Asian countries share a big burden of burn injuries, and Nepal is not an exception. We performed a systemic review to examine the epidemiological characteristics of burn injures in Nepal. Relevant epidemiological studies were identified through system...
We report 3 cases of Queensland tick typhus (QTT) and 1 case of African tick bite fever in which the causative rickettsiae were detected by PCR of eschar and skin lesions in all cases. An oral mucosal lesion in 1 QTT case was also positive.
Clinical reports of an eschar-associated rickettsiosis in the Paraná River Delta of Argentina prompted an evaluation of Amblyomma triste ticks in this region. When evaluated by PCR, 17 (7.6%) of 223 questing adult A. triste ticks, collected from 2 sites in the lower Paraná River Delta, contained DNA of Rickettsia parkeri.
timonae infection is diagnosed have >1 eschar, which raises the suspicion that some cases of Mediterranean spotted fever with multiple eschars reported in Spain could be caused by this rickettsial species. More studies about the vectors of this bacteria are needed because studies of Hyalomma and Rhipicephalus ticks (the suspected hosts) conducted in our area have not demonstrated the presence o...
Study of clinical and biochemical profile of scrub typhus in a tertiary care hospital of West Bengal
Background: Humans are accidental hosts in the zoonotic disease Scrub typhus. The though widespread our county, it remains grossly underdiagnosed because of its non-septic clinical manifestations and lack access to specific laboratory facilities. Aims Objectives: objective present study is evaluate presentations Typhus among group. Furthermore, assess various findings cases group other this stu...
Cardiomyocyte sodium accumulation after burn injury precedes the development of myocardial contractile dysfunction. The present study examined the effects of burn injury on Na-K-ATPase activity in adult rat hearts after major burn injury and explored the hypothesis that burn-related changes in myocardial Na-K-ATPase activity are PKC dependent. A third-degree burn injury (or sham burn) was given...
