In present work forced convection flow in a channel partly filled with a porous media under asymmetric heat flux boundary condition has been investigated. The porous material is distributed on the one wall. Darcy–Brinkman and LTNE model have been assumed in order to solve momentum and energy equations, respectively. Fully developed conditions are considered in order to solve velocity and the te...

Nude (Nu/Nu) and heterozygous (NU/+) mice were infected with Actinomyces israelii serotype I by either intranasal instillation or intravenous injection. Lung clearance data and 50% lethal dose values indicated that T-lymphocytes were not necessary for pulmonary clearance or prevention of systemic actinomycosis. However, T-lymphocyte deficiency may play a role in the localized cervicofacial form...

"Breathing" metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are an emerging class of soft porous crystals (SPCs) with potential for high working capacity for gas storage applications. However, most breathing MOFs have low stability and/or low surface area. Here we report a water-stable, high surface area, breathing MOF of ftw topology, NU-1105. While Zr6-oxo clusters as nodes introduce water stability in NU-11...

We consider the dynamics of polymer translocation out of confined environments. Analytic scaling arguments lead to the prediction that the translocation time scales like tau approximately N(beta+nu(2D))R(1+(1-nu(2D))/nu) for translocation out of a planar confinement between two walls with separation R into a three-dimensional (3D) environment, and tau approximately N(beta+1)R for translocation ...

We consider a dynamical system with state space M, a smooth, compact subset of some R(n), and evolution given by T(t), x(t)=T(t)x, x in M; T(t) is invertible and the time t may be discrete, t in Z, T(t)=T(t), or continuous, t in R. Here we show that starting with a continuous positive initial probability density rho(x,0)>0, with respect to dx, the smooth volume measure induced on M by Lebesgue ...

We consider the consequences for future neutrino factory experiments of small CPT-odd interactions in neutrino oscillations. The nu(&mgr;)-->nu(&mgr;) and nu;(&mgr;)-->nu;(&mgr;) survival probabilities at a baseline L = 732 km can test for CPT-odd contributions at orders of magnitude better sensitivity than present neutrino sector limits. Interference between the CPT-violating interaction and C...

We investigate the decays D(0)-->pi(-)l(+)nu and D(0)-->K(-)l(+)nu, where l is e or mu, using approximately 7 fb(-1) of data collected with the CLEO III detector. We find R(0) identical with B(D(0)-->pi(-)e(+)nu)/B(D(0)-->K(-)e(+)nu)=0.082+/-0.006+/-0.005. Fits to the kinematic distributions of the data provide parameters describing the form factor of each mode. Combining the form factor result...

DNA polymerase nu (POLN or pol nu) is a newly discovered A family polymerase that generates a high error rate when incorporating nucleotides opposite dG; its translesion DNA synthesis (TLS) capability has only been demonstrated for high fidelity replication bypass of thymine glycol lesions. In the current investigation, we describe a novel TLS substrate specificity of pol nu, demonstrating that...

Prior work has shown that listeners efficiently exploit prosodic information both in the discourse referent and in the preceding modifier to identify the referent. This study investigated whether listeners make use of prosodic information prior to the ENTIRE referential expression, i.e. the intonational realization of the adverb 'now', to identify the upcoming referent. The adverb ‘now’ can be ...
