Notch signaling pathway regulates many different events of embryonic and adult development; among them, Notch plays an essential role in the onset of hematopoietic stem cells and influences multiple maturation steps of developing lymphoid and myeloid cells. Deregulation of Notch signaling determines several human disorders, including cancer. In the last decade it became evident that Notch signa...

Parvovirus B19 (B19) infection can occur during acute lymphoblastic leukemia and persistent viral infection can occur despite intravenous immunoglobulin administration. Here, evidence is presented that resolution of persistent B19 infection in an acute lymphoblastic leukemia patient may be associated with the simultaneous strengthening of antigen-specific B cell memory against the B19 capsid pr...

Development of mammalian B-lineage cells is characterized by progression through a series of checkpoints defined primarily by rearrangement and expression of immunoglobulin genes. Progression through these checkpoints is also influenced by stromal cells in the microenvironment of the primary tissues wherein B-cell development occurs, ie, fetal liver and bone marrow and adult bone marrow. This r...

Normal precursor B cells or hematogones share morphologic and immunophenotypic similarities with lymphoblasts of precursor B-lymphoblastic leukemia. The numbers are often increased and difficult to distinguish in many patients following chemotherapy for precursor B-lymphoblastic leukemia. The purpose of this study was to establish a unique method for differentiating hematogones from lymphoblast...

T-Cell Acute Lym-phoblastic Leukemia In article number 2205854, Jingjing Ye, Min Ji, Chunyan and co-workers observed aberrant adipogenesis in the bone marrow of chemotherapy-treated T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) patients, differentiated-adipocytes attract support residual T-ALL cells. Last, an SREBF1 inhibitor demonstrates superior improvement on therapeutic effect dexamethason by...

A case of acute lymphoblastic leukemia with morphological characteristics of Burkitt's leukemia (L3 morphology) is presented. This patient's lymphoblasts were lacking in surface immunoglobulin, but were found to contain cytoplasmic IgM. This is the first report of a morphologically B-cell leukemia showing pre-B-cell characteristics immunologically.

Background: Precursor B-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (precursor B-ALL) oc-curs due to the uncontrolled proliferation of B-lymphoid precursors arrested at a par-ticular stage of B-cell development. Precursor-B-ALL is classified mainly into pro-B-ALL, common-ALL and pre-B-ALL. The Common Acute Lymphoblastic Antigen CD10 is the marker for common-ALL. Objective: This study was aimed to examine the ...

Background and Objective: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common malignancy in children, accounting for about a quarter of all malignancies. This study aimed to identify the prognosis of patients with relapsed acute lymphoblastic leukemia in Dr. Sheikh Hospital in Mashhad from 2006 to 2015 using competing risk models. Materials and Methods: Patients with ALL from March 2006 to...

Background: Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common form of childhood cancer leading to cancer-related death in children. Most infants with ALL harbor recurring structural chromosomal rearrangements that are important initiating events in leukemogenesis but are insufficient to explain the biology and heterogeneity of the disease. Mixed-lineage leukemia-rearrangement (MLL-rearrange...

Analysis of gene expression data provides an objective and efficient technique for sub-classification of leukemia. The purpose of the present study was to design a committee neural networks based classification systems to subcategorize leukemia gene expression data. In the study, a binary classification system was considered to differentiate acute lymphoblastic leukemia from acute myeloid leuke...
