In this paper, we investigate the capacity distribution of spatially correlated, multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) channels. In particular, we derive a concise closed-form expression for the characteristic function (c.f.) of MIMO system capacity with arbitrary correlation among the transmitting antennas or among the receiving antennas in frequency-flat Rayleigh-fading environments. Using th...

In this paper we evaluate the entanglement assisted classical capacity of a class of quantum channels with long-term memory, which are convex combinations of memoryless channels. The memory of such channels can be considered to be given by a Markov chain which is aperiodic but not irreducible. This class of channels was introduced in [7], where its product state capacity was evaluated.

In the past decade a considerable amount of research has been done on schema integration and translation. Until recently, most of the work has largely neglected the proof of correctness in transforming schemas. Anomalies could arise due to errors in the transformation rules. Invalid transformations can produce incomplete or inconsistent pictures that may cause damage to organisations. In this p...

The subject of this paper is to analyse the low voltage distribution lines inside the consumer premises, in order to attain a channel model useful to simulate its behaviour for high bit-rate digital communications. Measurements have also been performed both in the laboratory and in residential buildings, and results are presented and discussed. Finally, some estimations of the channel capacity ...

BACKGROUND Community-based participatory research (CBPR) offers a promising approach for combating health disparities. CBPR capacity must be developed among academics and communities. Most published CBPR capacity development work focuses on general guidance or individual partnership development. OBJECTIVES Herein we have reported community perspectives on community capacity-building efforts i...

Measurements taken at the campus of Brigham Young University (BYU) are used to investigate the statistical properties of the indoor MIMO channel. Two statistical tests, Royston’s and HenzeZirkler’s, are applied to the MIMO data to assess whether the data belongs to a multivariate normal distribution or not. The possibility of modeling the covariance matrix as a Kronecker product of the correlat...

BACKGROUND Human resources for health are at a critical low. The World Health Organization estimates that the current shortage of health workers, including pharmacists, is in excess of 7.2 million worldwide and that, by 2035, the shortage will reach 12.9 million. Pharmacists, in particular, are lacking in the workforce in many countries. The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and aca...

Recent studies have documented that a significant increase in the use of observation stays along with extensive variation in patterns of use across hospitals. The objective of this longitudinal observational study was to examine the extent to which patient, hospital, and local health system characteristics explain variation in observation stay rates across Veterans Health Administration (VHA) ho...

Priority-setting in health is risky and challenging, particularly in resource-constrained settings. It is not simply a narrow technical exercise, and involves the mobilisation of a wide range of capacities among stakeholders - not only the technical capacity to "do" research in economic evaluations. Using the Individuals, Nodes, Networks and Environment (INNE) framework, we identify those stake...

BACKGROUND Research positions embedded within healthcare settings have been identified as an enabler to allied health professional (AHP) research capacity; however, there is currently limited research formally evaluating their impact. In 2008, a Health Practitioner industrial agreement funded a research capacity building initiative within Queensland Health, Australia, which included 15 new alli...
