Pseudo Voronoi Tessellation via Anisotropic Meshing Our tessellation technique to represent organic texture consists of three steps: (1) elliptic or rectangular particle packing; (2) anisotropic meshing by connecting the centers of the particles; and (3) Voronoi tessellation as a dual of the anisotropic mesh. Given preferred cell sizes and directionality within a geometric domain, the technique...

We demonstrate that a Bose-Einstein condensate in an optical lattice forms a reconfigurable matter-wave structure with a band-gap spectrum, which resembles a nonlinear photonic crystal for light waves. We study in detail the case of a two-dimensional square optical lattice and show that this atomic band-gap structure allows nonlinear localization of atomic Bloch waves in the form of two-dimensi...

We analyze the possibility to prepare a Heisenberg antiferromagnet with cold fermions in optical lattices, starting from a band insulator and adiabatically changing the lattice potential. The numerical simulation of the dynamics in 1D allows us to identify the conditions for success, and to study the influence that the presence of holes in the initial state may have on the protocol. We also ext...

The evolution of information in images undergoing fine-to-coarse anisotropic transformations is analyzed by using an approach based on the theory of irreversible transformations. In particular, we show that, when an anisotropic diffusion model is used, local variation of entropy production over space and scale provides the basis for a general method to extract relevant image features.

The basic governing equations in anisotropic elastic material under the effect of porous piezothermoelastic are presented. Biot [1], Lord & Shulman [4] and Sherief et al. [5] theories are used to develop the basic equations for porous piezothermoelastic with mass diffusion material. The variational principle, uniqueness theorem and theorem of reciprocity in this model are established under the ...

2014 Anisotropic magnetic critical fields Hc2 are calculated for anisotropic Fermi surface (FS) models by use of mean field theory in the clean limit. The Hohenberg-Werthamer theory is applied numerically for selected FS pieces and Matsubara frequencies. The results are compared with experimental results on various anisotropic materials, in particular organic superconductors. It is proposed tha...

A theory is presented which incorporates the effect of dielectric anisotropy in random multiple scattering media. It predicts anisotropic diffusion, and a deflection of the diffuse energy flow in anisotropic slabs in the direction parallel to the slab. The transmittance integrated over all incoming and outgoing directions scales with the transport mean free path along the surface normal. The es...

Bones are able to adapt their local density when exposed to mechanical loading. Such growth processes result in densification of the bone in regions of high loading levels and in resorption of the material in regions of low loading levels. This evolution and optimisation process generates heterogeneous distributions of bone density accompanied by pronounced anisotropic mechanical properties. Wh...
