Certain aggregate externalities, like those due to knowledge and public goods, do not change very much in response to changes in two individuals’ actions. Thus, individuals rationally regard the level of the externality as fixed in their negotiations with each other. We leverage this observation to develop a general framework for the existence of stablematchings inmoderately sized one-to-onemat...
We present in this paper some properties of k-Lipschitz quasi-arithmetic means. The Lipschitz aggregation operations are stable with respect to input inaccuracies, what is a very important property for applications. Moreover, we provide sufficient conditions to determine when a quasi–arithemetic mean holds the k-Lipschitz property and allow us to calculate the Lipschitz constant k. Keywords— k-...

In our contribution we discuss the power stability of 1-Lipschitz binary aggregation functions. The main result is the characterization of power stable quasi-copulas by means of their dependence functions. The notions are illustrated by examples.
We investigate the associativity property for varying-arity aggregation functions and introduce the more general property of preassociativity, a natural extension of associativity. We discuss this new property and describe certain classes of preassociative functions.
It is a widely-supported tenet in human-computer interaction that the meaningful unit of analysis is not the technical device alone, but the technical device together with the person interacting with it; the reason is that what is a relevant property of a technology is only understandable with respect to the specific goals and resources activated during its usage. This basic reflection should a...
L ike the waistband of your pants after Thanksgiving dinner, neurons have to be able to stretch and then return to shape. On page 269 Hammarlund et al. pinpoint the protein that confers this springiness, showing that neurons lacking the molecule fracture. Movements such as bending your elbow put strain on neurons, but the source of the cells' elasticity has been a mystery. Hammar-lund et al. su...
A recent theory of the nearly axisymmetric vortex breakdown in a pipe is presented. We study the motion of an axisymmetric and inviscid swirling ow in a pipe with certain boundary conditions that may reeect the physical situation. The theory is built of global analysis of solutions of the Squire-Long equation and linear stability analysis of these solutions. The theory uniies the major previous...
Executive summary This deliverable documents the work performed by the authors in the context of work package WP7 of the EU project BRICS. The authors of this report all work at the University of Bergamo, which is the partner in BRICS responsible for promoting and supporting the development of Open and Flexible Robotic Systems. WP7 is a cross-sectional work package as Openness and Flexibility a...
Within the EU FP6 Integrated Project WINNER, adaptive transmission is investigated as a key technology for boosting the spectral efficiency of a new radio interface for 4G systems. Adaptive allocation of time-frequency chunks in an OFDM-based system offers a significant potential, but also poses challenges. Within work package two of WINNER, we study critical issues such as the feasibility of a...
