Interpolation-based trust-region methods are an important class of algorithms for Derivative-Free Optimization which rely on locally approximating an objective function by quadratic polynomial interpolation models, frequently built from less points than there are basis components. Often, in practical applications, the contribution of the problem variables to the objective function is such that ...
There are different finite element models in place for predicting the bending behavior of shear deformable beams and plates. Mostly, the literature abounds with traditional equi-spaced Langrange based low order finite element approximations using displacement formulations. However, the finite element models of Timoshenko beams and Mindlin plates with linear interpolation of all generalized disp...
Selection of optimum interpolation technique to estimate water quality parameters in unmeasured points plays an important role in managing the quality and quantity of water resources. The aim of this study is to evaluate the accuracy of interpolation methods using GIS and artificial neural network (ANNs) model. To this end, a series of qualitative parameters of samples from water taken from Deh...
Let k = k be a quadratic number field with discriminant ∆. For n ≥ 0, we define fields k inductively by taking k as the compositum of all unramified quadratic extensions of k that are central over k. Then k(∞) = ⋃∞ n=0 k (n,2) is the 2-class field tower of k. In the following, we call k the n central 2-step. The structure of the Galois group Gal (k/k) of the first central 2-step is determined b...
Spatiotemporal interpolation (STI) refers to perception of complete objects from fragmentary information across gaps in both space and time. It differs from static interpolation in that requirements for interpolation are not met in any static frame. It has been found that STI produced objective performance advantages in a shape discrimination paradigm for both illusory and occluded objects when...
ar X iv :1 40 1. 41 12 v1 [ cs .C V ] 1 6 Ja n 20 14 Abstract Inpainting based image compression approaches, especially linear and non-linear diffusion models, are an active research topic for lossy image compression. The major challenge in these compression models is to find a small set of descriptive supporting points, which allow for an accurate reconstruction of the original image. It turns...
Rainfall is one of the most important climatic variables in the hydrology cycle. In flood estimation as well as environmental pollution studies in medium to large watersheds not only mus temporal pattern of rainfall t be known, but also the knowledge of its spatial distribution is required. Estimation of daily rainfall distribution without comparison and selection of
suitable methods may le...
A novel interpolation-based procedure for the computation of the grey level co-occurrence matrix is defined. Based on this procedure, a method for accurate texture orientation estimation is designed. The robustness of the method is tested against Gaussian noise and blurring. The method is applied to cell microscopy images for the characterization of actin subcellular arrangement.
The classification of the grade of shrink and expansion for the expansive soils is very important work for constructions in expansive soil area. Accurate evaluation of the estate of expansive soil may provide scientific data and basis for the prevention of engineering design and construction. This paper brings forward the classification method for expansive soil based on fractal interpolation t...
