We discuss constraints on three flavor neutrino mixings from the accelerator and reactor experiments, the Kamiokande multi-GeV data, and the solar neutrino observations. The LSND result is excluded at 90%CL by the constraints imposed by all the data of reactor and accelerator experiments and the Kamiokande multi-GeV data if the mass scale required for the solution to the solar neutrino problem ...

We have predicted CP violation in the long baseline accelerator experiments taking into consideration the recent LSND data and the atmospheric neutrino data. By using both data, we can get unambiguous results for CP violation. Those data prefer the mass hierarchy m3 ≃ m2 ≫ m1 with m3 = O(1eV) and the flavor mixings |Ue1| ≃ 1 and |Uμ1| ≪ 1. The estimated upper bound of CP violation is 0.006, whi...

A dedicated AMS system for biochemical 14C measurements is being built at Center for Accelerator Mass Spectrometry. The system is centered around a National Electrostatics Corporation Model 3SDH-1 1-MV Pelletron accelerator and is designed to accept two ion sources. The LLNL 64-sample Cs-sputter ion source with its zoom lens beam line is attached to one port of the electrostatic switching eleme...

the new phase-ii n-glucoside metabolites of butobarbitone and pentobarbitone are identified and quantified in human urine after single doses of these drugs. the identification and quantification of these metabolites were carried out by mass spectroscopy technique (accurate mass measurement and high voltage scanning). it was found that the butobarbitone n-glucoside comprised 26% of the dose with...

This paper describes a low-charge-state heavy-ion post-accelerator system for upgrading the Holifield Radioactive Ion Beam Facility. It is comprised of a room temperature 12.5-MHz RFQ, followed by a normal conducting IH linac, a SC IH linac and a SC QWR linac booster. The system is designed to accelerate ions with mass-to-charge ratio up to 140. The system can be used to accelerate beams direct...

OBJECTIVE — Previous reports have predicted greater risk of type 1 diabetes among people who were heavier as young children. The Accelerator Hypothesis predicts earlier onset in heavier people, without necessarily a change in risk, and views type 1 and type 2 diabetes as the same disorder of insulin resistance, set against different genetic backgrounds. Insulin resistance is a function of fat m...

The Main Injector is a new rapid cycling accelerator at Fermilab which is a source of protons to be used in antiproton production to enhance the luminosity of the Tevatron Collider and to provide extracted beams for use in a range of xed target experiments. We discuss the current status of the accelerator and the physics which it enables. The physics ranges broadly over the standard model and b...

At the International Workshop on Genotoxicity Test Procedures (IWGTP) held in Washington, DC (March 25-26, 1999), a working group considered the uses of DNA adduct determination methods for testing compounds for genotoxicity. When a drug or chemical displays an unusual or inconsistent combination of positive and negative results in in vitro and in vivo genotoxicity assays and/or in carcinogenic...
