A near-infrared fluorescent probe based on methylene blue (p-NBMB) was developed for the detection of nitroreductase. Conjugating methylene blue with a p-nitrobenzyl moiety enables it to be activated by nitroreductase-catalyzed 1,6-elimination, resulting in the release of an active methylene blue fluorophore.

We examined the effects of adenosine 5'-triphosphate (ATP) and its analogues administered intracerebroventricularly on nociceptive thresholds in rats. Intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) administration of ATP (10 and 100 nmol/rat), alpha,beta-methylene-ATP (1-30 nmol/rat) and 2', 3'-O-(4-benzoylbenzoyl)-ATP (1-30 nmol/rat) dose-dependently elevated the mechanical nociceptive threshold in the paw p...

A recently synthesized photoactive donor named fluorinated thienyl–substituted benzodithiophene (DRTB-FT), modified with four novel end capped acceptor molecules, has been investigated through different electrical, quantum, and spectrochemical techniques for its enhanced electro-optical photovoltaic properties. DRTB-FT was connected to 2-methylenemalononitrile (D-1), 2-methylene-3-oxobutanenitr...

1. Cysteamine is oxidized to hypotaurine by an enzyme extracted from horse kidney, with sulphur or sulphide acting as a cofactor. It has been now found that, when the enzyme is omitted, sulphur and sulphide are able to catalyse the oxidation of cysteamine to cystamine by molecular oxygen. 2. Methylene blue may be used in catalytic amounts as a cofactor in the enzymic oxidation of cysteamine to ...

The chlorinated polyene aurantoic acid (1) and the 4-methylene sterol dehydroconicasterol (2) were isolated from the Indonesian sponge Theonella swinhoei, and their structures were elucidated by interpretation of spectroscopic data. Aurantoic acid is a unique member in the class of naturally occurring conjugated polyene derivatives, while dehydroconicasterol is the likely biogenetic precursor o...

The chromatographic separation of a methylene chloride extract of Artemisia rubripes led to the isolation of a new sesquiterpene lactone (3), together with four known compounds, a coumarin (2) and three terpenes (1, 4, and 5). Their structures were characterized to be 1beta,6alpha-dihydroxy-4(15)-eudesmene (1), scopoletin (2), 1alpha,4beta-dihydroxy-8alpha-acetoxy-guaia-2,10(14), 11(13)-triene-...

A green one-pot synthesis of 5H-Chromeno[4,3-b]pyridin-5-one derivatives which are the main core natural product Polyneomarline C is described by reaction 4-chloro-3-formyl coumarin and different cyclic acyclic compounds having active methylene group in presence Et3N NH4OAc EtOH. The advantages this strategy good yields, no need for chromatographic separation absence heavy metal catalysts toxic...
