Amaç: Türkiye Cumhuriyeti kültür politikası 1932-1950 yılları arasında ağırlıkla Halkevleri kanalıyla yürütülmüştür. Bu çalışma, 11 Ağustos 1951 tarihli Resmî Gazetede yayımlanan Halkevlerinin kapatılmasına ilişkin yasayla yaşanan kitap ve kütüphane kıyımını ele almayı amaçlamaktadır.
