Introduction: Diagnosis of orbital foreign body (FB) penetration is usually obvious when part of the FB is still attached at the entry wound (1). However, the depth and course of the FB in this case was not visible. Case Report: A 5-year old female presented with a pencil penetrating the left orbit. A computed tomography (CT) scan showed that the pencil penetrated the left orbit (extraseptal)...
In this study, we extend the "Fault Tolerant Matrix Pencil Method for Direction of Arrival Estimation (DOA)" proposed by the authors [1] to joint estimation of Azimuth and Elevation Angles from a data generated by Uniform Planar Antenna array (UPA), where at random locations a few of the elements due to failure are missing. Joint Azimuth and Elevation Angles estimation is generally known as Two...
A discrete–time nonsymmetric algebraic Riccati system which incorporates as special cases various discrete–time nonsymmetric algebraic Riccati equations is introduced and studied without any restrictive assumptions on the matrix coefficients. Necessary and sufficient existence conditions together with computable formulas for the stabilizing solution are given in terms of proper deflating subspa...
The sensitivity of the algebraic (Kronecker) structure of rectangular matrix pencils to perturbations in the coefficients is examined. Eigenvalue perturbation bounds in the spirit of Bauer–Fike are used to develop computational upper and lower bounds on the distance from a given pencil to one with a qualitatively different Kronecker structure.
This paper proposes a new parameter estimation algorithm for damped sinusoidal signals. Parameter estimation for damped sinusoidal signals with additive white noise is a problem of significant interest in many signal processing applications, like analysis of NMR data and system identification. The new algorithm estimates the signal parameters using a matrix pencil constructed from the measured ...
In this article, we study the initial value problem of a class of nonhomogeneous generalized linear discrete time systems whose coefficients are square constant matrices. By using matrix pencil theory we obtain formulas for the solutions and we give necessary and sufficient conditions for existence and uniqueness of solutions. Moreover, we provide some numerical examples.
Abstract. Experimental observations of univariate rootfinding by generalized companion matrix pencils expressed in the Lagrange basis show that the method can sometimes be numerically stable. It has recently been proved that a new condition number, defined for points on a set containing the interpolation points, is never larger than the rootfinding condition number for the Bernstein polynomial ...
