WordNet::SenseRelate::AllWords is a freely available open source Perl package that assigns a sense to every content word (known to WordNet) in a text. It finds the sense of each word that is most related to the senses of surrounding words, based on measures found in WordNet::Similarity. This method is shown to be competitive with results from recent evaluations including SENSEVAL-2 and SENSEVAL-3.

WordNet is an electronic lexical database available on-line as a powerful resource to the researchers in the area of computational linguistics, text processing and other related areas. WordNet for Hindi language has already been developed by IIT, Bombay. The Indian languages WordNets are being created using expansion approach from Hindi WordNet under IndoWordNet project. In expansion approach, ...

Incorporating semantic features from the WordNet lexical database is among one of the many approaches that have been tried to improve the predictive performance of text classification models. The intuition behind this is that keywords in the training set alone may not be extensive enough to enable generation of a universal model for a category, but if we incorporate the word relationships in Wo...

The data compiled through many Wordnet projects can be a rich source of seed information for a multilingual dictionary. However, the original Princeton WordNet was not intended as a dictionary per se, and spawning other languages from it introduces inherent ambiguity that confounds precise inter-lingual linking. This paper discusses a new presentation of existing Wordnet data that displays join...

In this paper, we propose a method for multi-term query expansions based on WordNet. In our approach, Hypernym/Hyponymy and Synonym relations in WordNet is used as the basic expansion rules. Then we use WordNet Lexical Chains and WordNet semantic similarity to assign terms in the same query into different groups with respect to their semantic similarities. For each group, we expand the highest ...

The paper describes an innovative approach to expanding the domain coverage of wordnet by exploiting multiple resources. In the experiment described here we are using a large monolingual Slovene corpus of texts from the domain of informatics to harvest terminology from, and a parallel English-Slovene corpus and an online dictionary as bilingual resources to facilitate the mapping of terms to th...

In this paper, we describe our efforts to build on WORDNET resources, using WORDNET lexical data, the data format that it comes with and WORDNET’s software infrastructure in order to generate a biomedical extension of WORDNET, the BIOWORDNET. We began our efforts on the assumption that the software resources were stable and reliable. In the course of our work, it turned out that this belief was...

The paper presents a comparative study of semantic and lexical relations defined and adopted in WordNet and EuroWordNet. This document describes the experimental observations achieved through the analysis of data from different WordNet versions and EuroWordNet distributions for different languages, during the development of JMWNL (Java Multilingual WordNet Library), an extensible multilingual l...

This paper describes automatic techniques for mapping 9611 entries in a database of English verbs to WordNet senses. The verbs were initially grouped into 491 classes based on syntactic categories. Mapping these verbs into WordNet senses provides a resource that may be used for disambiguation in multilingual applications such as machine translation and crosslanguage information retrieval. Our t...

The Academia Sinica Bilingual Ontological Wordnet (Sinica BOW) integrates three resources: WordNet, English-Chinese Translation Equivalents Database (ECTED), and SUMO (Suggested Upper Merged Ontology). The three resources were originally linked in two pairs: WordNet 1.6 was manually mapped to SUMO (Niles & Pease 2003) and also to ECTED (the English lemmas in WordNet were mapped to their Chinese...
