Viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus (VHSV) is a seriously problematic pathogen in olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) aquaculture farms in South Korea. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of VHSV which was isolated from spleen and kidney tissues of dead fish at an aquaculture farm in 2005. This genome sequence will be useful for virus diagnostics and in comparative analyses with oth...

The first case of Zika virus infection was identified in a Chinese traveler returning from Venezuela in February 2016. This report describes the complete genome sequence of Zika virus from the first imported case in China. The genome sequence analysis showed that the Zika virus isolated in this case belongs to the Asian lineage.

The hop latent virus is a single-stranded RNA virus that mainly infects hop plants. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of a hop latent virus, which was de novo assembled by RNA sequencing (RNA-seq). Our study indicates that transcriptome data are useful for identifying a complete viral genome.

A complete genome of human respiratory syncytial virus was sequenced and analyzed. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the full-length human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV) genome sequence belongs to gene type NA1. We sequenced the genome in order to create the full-length cDNA infectious clone and develop vaccines against HRSV.

A novel mycovirus with the proposed name “Magnaporthe oryzae botourmiavirus 9” (MoBV9) was found in rice blast fungus Magnaporthe isolate SH05. The virus has a positive single-stranded RNA genome of 2,812 nucleotides and contains single open reading frame predicted to encode an RNA-dependent polymerase that is closely related those some unclassified viruses family Botourmiaviridae, including Pl...

background and aims: celery mosaic virus (cemv) is one of the causal agents of viral diseases in celery (apium graveolens). cemv is a member of the potyvirus genus in potyviridae family. the virus is naturally transmitted by aphids in a non-persistent manner. during growing season 2006-2007 viral disease symptoms were observed in celery fields grown in tehran province (bage daneshkade, mohamads...

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is a serious global health problem. The development of a safe and effective vaccinewould help infection prevention. Previous hepatitis B vaccine production involved the isolation of the noninfectious particle from chronic HBV carriers. DNA recombinant technology has been used for vaccineproduction without having been contaminated with blood-born infectious ag...

Multipartite plant viruses were discovered because of discrepancies between the observed dose response and predictions of the independent-action hypothesis (IAH) model. Theory suggests that the number of genome segments predicts the shape of the dose-response curve, but a rigorous test of this hypothesis has not been reported. Here, Alfalfa mosaic virus (AMV), a tripartite Alfamovirus, and tran...

Here, we report the full-genome sequence of Milolii virus, a novel single-stranded (positive-sense) RNA virus discovered from Tapinoma melanocephalum ants in Hawaii. The genome is 10,475 nucleotides long, encoding a polyprotein of 3,304 amino acids.

A 90-base-pair tract of a simple sequence composed of alternating guanosine and thymidine nucleotide residues (poly[d(GT) . d(CA)]) was inserted into the simian virus 40 genome at nucleotide 2666 (0.17 map units). The poly[d(GT) . d(CA)] insertion was stably maintained in the viral genome, but the variant virus grew more slowly than simian virus 40.
