Indoor radon concentrations were measured in four well-known spas of Tunisia using nuclear track detectors. The radon concentrations in these spas were found to be in the range of 19 − 870 Bq.m-3. The equilibrium factor F between radon and its progeny was found to vary in the range of 0.2 0.5, depending upon the ventilation rates within the buildings of the spas. Using the exposure-dose convers...

INTRODUCTION Hemophilia A is an X linked recessive hemorrhagic disorder caused by mutations in the F8 gene that lead to qualitative and/or quantitative deficiencies of coagulation factor VIII (FVIII). Molecular diagnosis of hemophilia A is challenging because of the high number of different causative mutations that are distributed throughout the large F8 gene. Molecular studies of these mutatio...

Leishmania infantum causes Visceral and cutaneous leishmaniasis in northern Morocco. It predominantly affects children under 5 years with incidence of 150 cases/year. Genetic variability and population structure have been investigated for 33 strains isolated from infected dogs and humans in Morocco. A multilocus microsatellite typing (MLMT) approach was used in which a MLMtype based on size var...

Bringing together nanofluids and solar collectors has been widely discussed without any major advance or long-term study being carried out. In this context, paper provides a useful feasibility to help future decisions in using Solar Water Heating Systems (SWHSs) different locations. The performances of SWHSs the nanofluid-based flat plate collector (FPSC), evacuated tube (ETC), compound parabol...

AIM To report epidemiologic and anatomoclinical transitions of inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) in Tunisia. MATERIALS AND METHODS Data including clinico-pathological data for208 cases of T4d or PEV 3 non-metastatic breast cancer diagnosed between 2005 and 2010 were collected from patient records. Chi2 and Z tests were used to compare variables with two Tunisian historical series and a series ...

Introduction Economic theory tells us that increases in the relative prices of natural resources should cause farmers to switch to techniques that use fewer farming resources. The adoption of resource-conserving technology is one possible response that can lead toward a more environmentally sustainable outcome. Do farmers respond to changes in natural resource prices and quality by adopting ava...

We report a Tunisian patient born from consanguineous marriage affected with progressive myoclonus epilepsy and cognitive decline, consistent with the diagnosis of Lafora disease. Genetic analysis showed a novel c.659 T>A mutation on exon 3 of the EPM2A gene, converting a leucine to a glutamine residue at amino acid position 220 (p.Leu220Gln), in the dual-specificity phosphatase domain.

Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Desulfotomaculum hydrothermale, a sulfate-reducing, spore-forming bacterium isolated from a Tunisian hot spring. The genome is composed of 2.7 Mb, with a G+C content of 49.48%, and it contains 2,643 protein-coding sequences.
