Nanoparticles synthesised by fungi have various applications and is much effective than the nanoparticles synthesised by other means. The present study is aimed to determine the antimicrobial potential of Titanium dioxide nanoparticles synthesised from the fungus, Aspergillus niger. The synthesised nanoparticles were characterised using UV spectrophotometer, SEM, and XRD. The antibacterial acti...
In their study of inhalation exposure of titanium dioxide particles, Grassian et al. (2007) presented a transmission electron micrograph (TEM) (their Figure 2A) as an image of “dispersed” TiO2 nanoparticles. Yet, the TiO2 nanoparticles in this TEM do not appear to be dispersed. There is clear evidence of self-organization of the nanoparticles into distinct assemblages, separated by relatively l...
the current study presents synthesis and characterization of high impact polystyrene - tio2 nanoparticles mixed matrix membranes for separation of carbon dioxide from nitrogen. the solution-casting method was used for preparation of membranes. the nano mixed matrix membranes were characterized using scanning electron microscopy to ensure the suitable dispersion of nano particles in high impact ...
A simple strategy for preparation of reduced graphene oxide (RGO)/TiO2 hybrid thin films was developed by UV-assisted incorporation of TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) onto RGO films. The UV-assisted incorporation of TiO2 NPs onto RGO films makes the hybrid films stable against prolonged exposure to UV light without the decrease of their conductivity and transparency.
BACKGROUND We study the human serum albumin (HSA) protein-CuO nanoparticle interaction to identify the specific binding site of protein with CuO nanoparticles by molecular docking and compared it with HSA-TiO2 nanoparticle interaction. METHODS The protein structural data that was obtained using Autodock 4.2. RESULTS In case of CuO np-HSA interaction, the distances from the centre of Subdoma...
Anatase TiO2 nanoparticles with exposed {001} facets were synthesized from Ti powder via a sequential hydrothermal reaction process. At the first-step hydrothermal reaction, H-titanate nanowires were obtained in NaOH solution with Ti powder, and at second-step hydrothermal reaction, anatase TiO2 nanoparticles with exposed {001} facets were formed in NH4F solution. If the second-step hydrotherma...
A photofuel cell comprising two photocatalysts TiO2 and Ag-TiO2 is demonstrated. The open circuit voltage, short circuit current, and maximum electric power of the PFC were 1.59 V, 74 μA, and 14 μW, respectively. The electron flow was rectified due to the Schottky barrier between TiO2 and Ag nanoparticles.
BACKGROUND Over the last decade safety concerns have arisen about the use of metal-based nanoparticles in the cosmetics field. Metal-based nanoparticles have been linked to both environmental and animal toxicity in a variety of studies. Perhaps the greatest concern involves the large amounts of TiO2 nanoparticles that are used in commercial sunscreens. As an alternative to using these potential...
This work shows the effect of 2 and 5 wt% TiO2 nanoparticles (modified by fluorocarbons and not) and of 1, 3 and 5 wt% ZnO particles on PLA degradation evaluated under UV irradiation, hydrolytical 1N NaOH solution, enzymatical proteinase K solution, and isothermal condition. The presence of TiO2 nanoparticles and ZnO particles decreases the degradation processes of PLA under UV light exposure a...
Anatase phase TiO2 nanostructures (Nanoparticles and nanorods) were prepared by two different methods. The prepared samples were characterized with Powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method and Barrett-Joyner-Halenda (BJH) analysis. The PXRD pattern shows tha...
