a mild, efficient and fast method for the trimethylsilyl (tms), tetrahydropyranyl (thp) and methoxymethyl (mom) protection of alcohols and phenols in the presence of sulfonated rice husk ash (rha-so3h) is reported. all reactions were performed at room temperature in high to excellent yields. all the products are separated and compared with authentic samples and/ or identified using different ty...
Holarrhena antidysenterica (Ha) and Citrullus colocynthis (Cc) biowaste from indigenous Pakistan resources was used to remove toxic brilliant green (BG) dye aqueous solutions in a batch mode. Tartaric acid chemical modification gave promising results than the nonmodified forms of biowaste. Surface characterization carried out by FT-IR SEM. The optimum conditions for elimination Ha-tartaric modi...
U k D hyd k O H B ⎯ ⎯ → ⎯ ⎯ ⎯ → ⎯ + deg 2 Abstract—Rice husk is a lignocellulosic source that can be converted to ethanol. Three hundreds grams of rice husk was mixed with 1 L of 0.18 N sulfuric acid solutions then was heated in an autoclave. The reaction was expected to be at constant temperature (isothermal), but before that temperature was achieved, reaction has occurred. The first liquid sa...
In drinking water, high concentrations of fluoride and arsenic can have adverse effects on human health. Waste deriving from the rice industry (rice husk, straw, bran) be promising adsorbent materials, because they are (i) produced in large quantities many parts world, (ii) recoverable a circular economy perspective, (iii) at low cost if compared to expensive conventional activated carbon, (iv)...
Metabolic conversion of l-galactono-1, 4-lactone and l-ascorbic acid to (+)-tartaric acid and oxalic acid has been studied in Pelargonium crispum, cv. Prince Rupert. Experiments with specifically labeled substrates suggest a path of conversion involving cleavage of l-ascorbic acid, or a metabolic product of l-ascorbic acid, between C(2) and C(3), such that oxalic acid arises from the two carbon...
The potential of various chemically modified rice husk to remove Methylene Blue (MB) and Reactive Orange 16 (RO16) from aqueous solution was investigated. It was found that ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid modified rice husk (ERH) has the highest adsorption capacity for both MB and RO16. ERH was produced by treating natural rice husk (NRH) with 0.5 g of ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) i...
To evaluate the utility potential of pretreated biomass in blast furnaces, the fuel properties, including fuel ratio, ignition temperature, and burnout, of bamboo, oil palm, rice husk, sugarcane bagasse, and Madagascar almond undergoing torrefaction and carbonization in a rotary furnace are analyzed and compared to those of a high-volatile coal and a low-volatile one used in pulverized coal inj...
The formation of diastereomeric cocrystals of malic acid and tartaric acid was investigated by liquid-assisted grinding in the solid state. We demonstrate that racemic malic acid can be converted into two distinct diastereomeric cocrystal phases by grinding with a single enantiomer of tartaric acid.
BACKGROUND The ripening of fruits is characterized by physical, chemical and biochemical compositional changes such as color, sugars and phenolic compounds. Ackee fruit is famous in Jamaica and the Caribbean. This study aimed to assess the variation of fatty acids in two varieties (cheese and butter) ackee (Blighia sapida) fruits during five different ripening stages. RESULTS The total fatty ...
