In this study, we sequenced the genomes of two Shewanella spp., newly isolated from the gut of the sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus (Selenka, 1867). The whole-genome sequences reported here will expand the repertoire of genomic information for the members of the genus Shewanella and will provide important insights into their roles within microbial communities.
Extracellular electron transfer mechanism in Shewanella loihica PV4 biofilms formed at indium tin oxide and graphite electrodes. Journal Article How to cite: Jain, Anand; O Connolly, Jack; Woolley, Richard; Krishnamurthy, Satheesh and Marsili, Enrico (2013). Alkaline phosphatase (ortho phosphate, monoester hydrolase phosphoinositide E. C. 3.1.3.1) is a non-specific metalloproteinase enzyme that is located inside periplasmic space of bacteria. This enzyme is used to measure freshwater sediment in genetic engineering for cleaning water. Isolation and molecular identification of the bacteria producing alkaline phosphatase and comparison of its product...
Probiotic is considered as a remedy to solve disease problem in shrimp aquaculture. Shrimp body and environment bacterial flora are recommended as reliable source for extracting of beneficial bacteria. Therefore, 5000 pieces of post larvae of Penaeus monodon were distributed equally in 4 tanks in probiotic and antibiotic free condition up to juvenile. Then microbiological samples from digestiv...
In this study, we present the first complete genome of an extensively drug-resistant strain of Shewanella xiamenensis, collected from hospital effluents in Algeria. This genome includes the chromosome and a large new plasmid harboring several drug-resistance genes.
Shewanella spp is a facultatively anaerobic, motile, gramnegative bacillus and can be found throughout the world mainly in marine environments and soil. It is a rare pathogen in human and infection by it is usually associated with underlying severe morbidities. We report a case of a 69- years old woman who presented with Shewanella putrefaciens dysentery and who was subsequently found to have u...
The Hg-methylating ability of dissimilatory iron-reducing bacteria in the genera Geobacter, Desulfuromonas, and Shewanella was examined. All of the Geobacter and Desulfuromonas strains tested methylated mercury while reducing Fe(III), nitrate, or fumarate. In contrast, none of the Shewanella strains produced methylmercury at higher levels than abiotic controls under similar culture conditions. ...
