We show how to create long-range interactions between alkali atoms in different hyperfine ground states, with the goal of coherent quantum transport. The scheme uses off-resonant dressing with atomic Rydberg states. We demonstrate coherent migration of electronic excitation through dressed dipole–dipole interaction by full solutions of models with four essential states per atom and give the str...

The vertical transition energies for butadiene have been calculated using the CIS/6-3 1 1 (2+)G* theoretical model. The observed energies were satisfactorily reproduced. The charge distribution for each of the excited states was calculated so that the change from the ground-state distribution could be examined. The nature of the Rydberg states are discussed. Quantitative information on the degr...

We predict the existence of a ubiquitous class of long-range molecular Rydberg states, whose Born-Oppenheimer potential curves are oscillatory in nature. These oscillations reflect the nodal structure of the atomic Rydberg state wave functions. The temperature and density of atoms in a Bose-Einstein condensate are particularly favorable for the laser excitation of ultra-long-range vibrational b...

Semiunitary transformation is applied to discuss supersymmetrization of cold Rydberg atoms. In the limit of vanishing kinetic energy the lowest angular momentum of the supersymmetric cold Rydberg atom is 3h̄/2. A possible experimental verification is suggested. We consider three-level atoms driven by two resonant light fields in a ladder scheme where the upper level is a highly excited Rydberg state. We show that the dipole-dipole interactions between Rydberg excited atoms prevents the formation of single particle dark states and leads to strongly correlated photon pairs from atoms separated by distances large compared to the emission wavelength. For ...

Rotationally resolved photoelectron spectra in resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization of H2O via the C 1 B 1 Rydberg state Photoelectron studies of resonantly enhanced multiphoton ionization of H2 via the B' 1Σ+ u and D 1Π u states J. Cooper minima are predicted to occur in the 3pu-+ku(/ = 2) and 3pu-+k1T(/ = 2) channels in the resonance enhanced multi photon ionization of NO via the D 2~ + ...

We have simulated the centre-of-mass motion of Rydberg anti-hydrogen atoms in spatially varying magnetic fields. We find that a population of anti-hydrogen can lose substantial centre-of-mass kinetic energy during the radiative cascade to the ground state. The loss of energy is due to the change in magnetic moment when photons are emitted and is akin to adiabatic cooling. We also simulate the p...

We observe multiply frustrated tunneling ionization-induced dissociation of the argon dimers by intense linearly polarized ultrashort laser pulses. By measuring the kinetic energy release and angular distribution of the Coulomb explosion of up to eightfold ionized argon dimers, we can trace the recapture of up to two electrons to Rydberg states of the highly charged compound at the end of the l...

The dynamics of the three-body dissociative charge exchange of fast (12 keV) H+3 and D+3 with Cs have been studied using multiparticle translational spectroscopy. The observed partitioning of product momenta was found to be state-specific and yields insights into the nuclear motion during dissociation for the three lowest-lying 2s 2A'1, 2p 2A''2, and 3p 2E' metastable Rydberg states of H3 and t...

We propose a novel type of Rydberg dimer, consisting Rydberg-state atom bound to distant positive ion. The molecule is formed through long-range electric-multipole interaction between the and point-like present potential energy curves (PECs) that are asymptotically connected with $nP$- or $nD$-states rubidium cesium. PECs exhibit deep, wells which support many vibrational states Rydberg-atom-io...
