This study presents a review of biodegradability modeling efforts including a detailed assessment of two models developed using an artificial intelligence based methodology. Validation results for these models using an independent, quality reviewed database, demonstrate that the models perform well when compared to another commonly used biodegradability model, against the same data. The ability...

We propose a novel approach to performance prediction of OWL reasoners that selects suitable, small ontology subsets, and then extrapolates to the whole ontology. Our second contribution concerns ontology features: we report their high intercorrelation using PCA: the ontologies basically differ in one or two features.

We explicitly show the connection between the protein folding problem and spin glass transition. This is then used to identify appropriate quantities that are required to describe the transition. A possible way of observing the spin glass transition is proposed. 87.15.-v, 89.90.+n, 61.41.+e, 75.10.Nr Typeset using REVTEX

In (1a), respective appears to enforce a mapping on the main predication that aligns Mr. Smith with his wife and Mr. Jones with his wife, as paraphrased in (1b). Note that sentence (1c) also has this reading, in addition to one that respective appears to rule out in (1a), in which both men love both women. There is an assortment of interesting facts that any analysis of respective must be compa...

We examine correlations between student learning and student acoustic-prosodic profiles, which prior research has shown to be predictive of emotional states. We compare these correlations in two corpora of spoken tutoring dialogues: a human-human corpus and a human-computer corpus. Our results suggest that rather than relying on emotion prediction models developed via the more labor-intensive m...

This work builds on an existing performance modeling framework that has been proven effective on a variety of HPC systems. This paper will illustrate the framework’s power by creating blind predictions for three systems as well as establishing sensitivity studies to advance understanding of observed and anticipated performance of both architecture and application. The predictions are termed bli...

Land surface processes and their initialization are of crucial importance to address the challenge of seamless (from weather to seasonal) Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP). In particular it has been found that soil moisture influences the landatmosphere exchange processes on all relevant time scales. It is therefore expected to be of high interest for NWP applications to assimilate new satelli...
