Deterministic diffusion in temporally oscillating convection is studied for particles with finite mass. The particles are assumed to obey a simple dissipative dynamical system and the particle diffusion is induced by the strange attractor. The diffusion constants are numerically calculated for convection models with free and rigid boundary conditions.
Vortex-induced vibration (VIV) is a highly nonlinear fluid-structure interaction (FSI) phenomenon, and its accurate prediction remains challenging. In this study, we developed high-order partitioned FSI framework towards simulation of the VIV phenomenon. The focus on simulating two-way coupled between flexibly mounted rigid body surrounding fluids. framework, computational fluid dynamics method...
Let $X$ be a sufficiently nice scheme. We survey some recent progress on dualizing complexes. It turns out that a complex in $kinj X$ is dualizing if and only if tensor product with it induces an equivalence of categories from Murfet's new category $kmpr X$ to the category $kinj X$. In these terms, it becomes interesting to wonder how to glue such equivalences.
making a conservative bridge using a natural tooth pontic with mobile teeth is complicated, time-consuming and sometimes impossible with the current techniques and materials. the aim of this paper is` to describe a new method using special rigid tray technique (srtt) to deal with such difficult clinical cases.
ground differential movements due to faulting have been observed to cause damage to engineered structures and facilities. although surface fault rupture is not a new problem, there are only a few building codes in the world containing some type of provisions for reducing the risks. fault setbacks or avoidance of construction in the proximity to seismically active faults, are usually supposed as...
In this paper, following a two-stage methodology, the differential quadrature element (DQE) model of a three-story frame structure is updated for the vibration analysis. In the first stage, the mass and stiffness matrices are updated using the experimental natural frequencies. Then, having the updated mass and stiffness matrices, the structural damping matrix is updated to minimize the error be...
ABSTRACT Rigid-flex circuit boards are becoming more prevalent as the limits pushed on size, mass, and geometry of electronic systems. A key aspect designing a rigid-flex printed (PCB) system is an assessment dynamic properties PCB predicting performance under loading. Among current modeling methodologies for PCB, simplified methodology that adequately captures dynamics does not exist. This art...
A practical model of quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) is presented, which considers both the Gaussian distribution characteristic of mass sensitivity and the influence of electrodes on the mass sensitivity. The equivalent mass sensitivity of 5 MHz and 10 MHz AT-cut QCMs with different sized electrodes were calculated according to this practical model. The equivalent mass sensitivity of this pr...
Abstract An Einstein manifold is called scalar curvature rigid if there are no compactly supported volume-preserving deformations of the metric which increase curvature. We give various characterizations rigidity for open manifolds as well closed manifolds. As an application, we construct mass-decreasing Riemannian Schwarzschild and Taub–Bolt metric.
Background The National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) advocates for cervical spine immobilization on a rigid board or vacuum splint and for removal of athletic equipment before transfer to an emergency medical facility. Purpose To (1) compare triplanar cervical spine motion using motion capture between a traditional rigid spine board and a full-body vacuum splint in equipped and unequ...
