OBJECTIVE STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Adequate bond strength between glass ionomer cements and composite resin is necessary for the success of the sandwich technique. PURPOSE OF STUDY This study assessed the micro-shear bond strength of composite resin to glass-ionomer cements (GIC) using self-etch adhesives with different pH values. MATERIALS AND METHODS One hundred specimens (6×4×2 mm) were m...

OBJECTIVE To determine the degree of cure of a light-cured resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGI) under molar bands compared with a light-cured resin and a dual-cured resin. MATERIALS AND METHODS The 3 cements used were Fuji Ortho LC, Eagle Spectrum resin, and Variolink II dual-cure. Each sample was indirectly light cured for 20 seconds (10 seconds occlusally, 10 seconds cervically) under sectio...

Significance of Study Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine (calcium silicate-based materials) have great importance in dentistry. There is no study comparing the bond strength of Biodentine and MTA for composite, compomer, and compomer or resin-modified glass ionomer (RMGIC). Although many advantages of Biodentine over MTA; in this study, MTA has shown better shear bond strength (SBS...

The purpose of this research was to study the marginal adaptation of eight calcium silicate-based materials when used to seal large furcal perforations, compared with one resin-modified glass-ionomer cement by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Сonclusion:All tested calcium silicate-based materials showed good marginal adaptation and are suitable for large furcal perforation repair.

OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of erosion on direct tooth-coloured restorations and adjacent enamel/dentine under low and normal simulated salivary flow rates. METHODS Bovine enamel and dentine specimens were prepared (n=16) and restored with the following materials: resin composite (FiltekZ250), resin-modified glass ionomer cement (Fuji II LC), high-viscosity ...

objectives : this experimental study evaluated the effect of bonding application time on the microshear bond strength of composite resin to different types of glass ionomer cements (gics). materials and methods: one-hundred and sixty specimens (two conventional and two resin-modified gics) were prepared and divided into 16 groups. the surface of all specimens was prepared using two different bo...

Placement of restorations for patients who are physically or intellectually disabled or mentally ill can pose considerable difficulties for the general practitioner. Access to the oral environment is often limited and patient tolerance and concentration may be reduced to rather brief periods of time. Oral hygiene routines may be less than ideal leading to a high caries rate. Enamel surfaces whi...
