Domain decomposition methods are widely used to solve the parabolic partial differential equations with Dirichlet, Neumann, or mixed boundary conditions. Modified implicit prediction (MIP) algorithm is unconditionally stable domain decomposition method. In this paper, the SOR iterative technique is applied to the MIP algorithm and the optimum over-relaxation parameter is provided.

We consider linear multistep methods that possess general monotonicity and boundedness properties. Strict monotonicity, in terms of arbitrary starting values for the multistep schemes, is only valid for a small class of methods, under very stringent step size restrictions. This makes them uncompetitive with the strong-stability-preserving (SSP) Runge– Kutta methods. By relaxing these strict mon...

The paper introduces general considerations on structural properties of aromatic, antiaromatic and non-aromatic conjugated systems in terms of potential energy along bond length alternation and distortion coordinates, taking as examples benzene, cyclobutadiene and cyclooctatetraene. Pentalene, formally derived from cyclooctatetraene by cross linking, is also considered as a typical antiaromatic...

To prevent moving shadows being misclassified as moving objects or parts of moving objects, this paper presents an explicit method for detection of moving cast shadows on a dominating scene background. Those shadows are generated by objects moving between a light source and the background. Moving cast shadows cause a frame difference between two succeeding images of a monocular video image sequ...
