Paracoccus yeei was isolated in pure culture from an aerobic blood culture and bulla fluid from a 67-year-old male. The biochemical identification scheme for this recently described species is outlined. Because of its reaction pattern it is not unlikely that P. yeei is underdiagnosed.

Porphyria cutanea tarda(PCT) is characterised by photosensitivity and bulla formation on photoexposed parts which heals with scaring and pigmentation. PCT is frequently associated with diabetes mellitus, lupus erythematosus and hepetitis C virus infection. We are reporting and Indian patient of PCT associated with pericarditis which is very rare.

We report a case of acute upper airway obstruction caused by a rapidly expanding blood-filled bulla in the oropharynx (angina bullosa haemorrhagica), requiring tracheal intubation. The larynx could not be visualized by either awake fibreoptic laryngoscopy or direct laryngoscopy under anaesthesia. Surgical tracheostomy was therefore performed under general anaesthesia.
