The aim of the paper is to obtain some theoretical and numerical properties of Saaty ’s and Koczkodaj ’s inconsistencies of pairwise comparison matrices (PRM ). In the case of 3 × 3 PRM, a differentiable one-to-one correspondence is given between Saaty ’s inconsistency ratio and Koczkodaj ’s inconsistency index based on the elements of PRM. In order to make a comparison of Saaty ’s and Koczkoda...

West Nile virus (WNV) is a member of the family Flaviviridae and is a neurotropic pathogen responsible for severe human disease. Flavivirus-infected cells release virus particles that contain variable numbers of precursor membrane (prM) protein molecules at the viral surface. Consequently, antibodies are produced against the prM protein. These antibodies have been shown to activate the infectio...

Cox's proportional hazards model is often t to grouped survival data, i.e. occurrence/exposure data over given time intervals and covariate strata. We derive a Sheppard correction for the bias in the grouped data analogue of Cox's maximum partial likelihood estimator. This is done via a large sample theory in which the covariate strata and time intervals shrink as the sample size increases.

Definition 5.2. Suppose one has a nonempty finite set = {C1, . . . ,Cm} of general consequence operators, each defined on a nonempty language Li, 1≤ i≤m. Define the operatorΠCm as follows: for any X ⊂ L1×···×Lm, using the projection pri, 1≤ i≤m, define ΠCm(X)= C1(pr1(X))×···×Cm(prm(X)). Theorem 5.3. The operator ΠCm defined on the subsets of L1 ×···×Lm is a general consequence operator and if, ...

BACKGROUND The European Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Journal Network (EPRMJN), a joint initiative between the European Society Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ESPRM) and the European Journal of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (EJPRM), has the aim to increase scientific knowledge among PRM specialists and foster collaboration among physical and rehabilitation medicine (PRM) jo...

The main paradigm for practical motion planning in the last two decades is Probabilistic Road Map (PRM). We propose an alternative paradigm called Soft Subdivision Search (SSS). The SSS approach is based on two ingredients: the standard subdivision of space, coupled with soft predicates. Such predicates are conservative and convergent relative to exact predicates. This leads to a new class of r...

PURPOSE A link between poor sleep quality and Alzheimer's disease (AD) has recently been suggested. Since endogenous melatonin levels are already reduced at preclinical AD stages, it is important to ask whether replenishing the missing hormone would be beneficial in AD and whether any such effects would be related to the presence of sleep disorder in patients. PATIENTS AND METHODS The effects...
