The predominance of agriculture in the UK is a major factor determining main soil threats and priorities. degradation processes are compaction, erosion organic matter loss, while contamination sealing also significant issue. Agricultural land take threatens ecosystem services but receives little attention. An urgent need to tackle climate change has resulted new direction for use policy.

The paper examines the speciication language Statecharts from the point of view of its capability to express notions of priority. First a version of Statecharts that does not support priority is introduced, then various syntactic and semantics extensions are examined and compared from the point of view of expressing a general notion of priority. Taking a network approach, we have identified research priorities in non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis. We discuss these in the context of increasing recognition of bronchiectasis and increasing mortality rates.
