This study investigated the combined effects of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and crumb rubber (CR) as modifiers on some properties asphaltic concrete. Asphaltic concrete materials were obtained from a construction site. CR 9.5 mm size was by sieving, while PET bottles collected, sorted, washed, dried shredded mechanical means. The physical these determined following standard procedure. Bitu...
Azoisobutylnitrile (AIBN) initiator was used in the treatment of most widely used domestic plastics in lieu of catalysts. The pyrolysis of low-density polyethylene (LDPE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP), poly-ethylene terephthalate (PET) and polystyrene (PS) plastics with azoisobutylnitrile was carried out individually under nitrogen atmosphere. A series of single (plastic...
Abstract Ideonella sakaiensis ( I. ) can grow on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) as the major carbon and energy source. Previous work has shown that PET conversion in presence of oxygen released dioxide water while yielding adenosine triphosphate (ATP) through oxidative phosphorylation. This study demonstrates is a facultative anaerobe ferments to feedstock chemicals acetate ethanol absence ox...

The data included here provides a basis for understanding "Interior morphology of high-performance polyethylene fibers revealed by modulus mapping" (K.E. Strawhecker, E.J. Sandoz-Rosado, T.A. Stockdale, E.D. Laird, 2016) [1], in specific: the multi-frequency (AMFM) atomic force microscopy technique and its application to ultra-high-molecular-weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers. Furthermore, the...
In this work plasma immersion (PI) was applied to Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and Polyethylene Terephtalate (PET) to improve their characteristics for food packaging. The effects of plasma composition were investigated by comparing treatments using N2 and SF6. Different treatment times were used at a total reactor pressure of 1.33 Pa composed by a steel vacuum chamber containing two interna...
A thermally fusible softwood lignin was directly isolated by a solvolysis of cedar wood chips with a mixture of polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG 400) and sulfuric acid. Its fusibility was found to be due to a PEG moiety introduced into the lignin by the solvolysis. The lignin was easily formed into fibers by melt-spinning at temperatures ranging from 145 to 172 o C without any modification. The lig...
