the harmony search algorithm is applied to optimum designs of a functionally graded (fg)-carbon naotubes (cnts)-reinforced pipes conveying fluid subjected to moving load. the structure is modeled by reddy cylindrical shell theory and the motion equations are derived by hamilton's principal. based on differential quadrature method (dqm), the dynamic displacement of system is derived. the le...

We examine recent claims that the molecular rotation, which manifests itself in the form of bulk viscosity, has a measurable effect on the transition Reynolds number in pipe flow. We also conduct new experiments using argon. We conclude that the effects, if they exist at all, are negligibly small for the conditions of the experiment. @ 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.

Wind turbine blade is the key component of wind power system. Curing is one of the important processes in its production of large-scale composite wind turbine blade. Mold heating system of circulating water affects the quality of resin curing and the productive efficiency of turbine blade directly. The heat transfer model of heating system for 1.2 MW wind turbine blade is built, and influencing...

Although flow in a circular pipe is stable to infinitesimal perturbations, it can be excited to turbulence by finite perturbations whose minimal amplitude shrinks as R → ∞ (R = Reynolds number). Laboratory experiments have appeared to disagree with one another and with theoretical predictions about the dependence of this minimal amplitude on R, with published results ranging approximately from ...

Traditional reinforcement learning methods require a function approx-imator (FA) for learning value functions in large or continuous state spaces. We describe a novel combination of CMAC-based FAs and adap-tive world models (WMs) estimating transition probabilities and rewards. Simple variants are tested in multiagent soccer environments where they outperform the evolutionary method PIPE which ...

A numerical investigation is carried out to investigate the transitional flow behaviour of nanofluids flow in an inclined pipe using both single and multi-phase models. Two different nanofluids are considered, and these are Al2O3–water and TiO2–water nanofluids. Moreover, SST κ − ω transitional model is implemented to study the nanofluids flow in inclined pipe. Gravitational force is also adopt...

T he validity of the ‘‘theorem’’ of minimum entropy production (per unit time) was assessed in Refs 1 and 2 for the well documented case of single – phase fluid tube flow bifurcation from laminar to turbulent regimes. The analysis led to the following two main conclusions: 1) This theorem is not generally valid. 2) The stable type of flow regime is associated with a maximum specific (per unit m...
