Anterolateral thigh flap (ALT flap) is first found and used by Song in 1984. Classified the perforator type flaps, ALT flaps blood supplied perforators of descending branch lateral circumflex artery. The choice many cases, those need a large soft tissue for reconstruction, especially cervico facial area thanks to advantages flap: constants relievable anatomic structure, supply, flexible use as ...
Objectives. To compare reconstructive techniques, operative times, duration of hospitalization, and need for subsequent flap revisions between reconstructive approaches to lateral skull base defects. Study Design. Case series with chart review. Setting. Tertiary academic referral center. Subjects. Patients (n = 31) undergoing reconstruction of composite lateral skull base defects from 2002 to 2...
Abstract Introduction The radial forearm free flap phalloplasty is the most commonly used for penile reconstruction. anterolateral thigh (ALT) was proposed in 2006 as an alternative due to twin advantages of a more easily hidden scar and improved flexibility length flap. A pedicled variant ALT same year thus offering greater security vascular supply suitable patients. Previous reports have high...
Radical surgeries for treatment of scapular and pelvic girdle tumors (hemipelvectomy and interscapulothoracic amputation) are generally extended procedures, with large areas of local tissue loss after tumor resection. The use of a flap that includes all the anterior and posterior thigh musculature after femur dissection, pedicled in the superficial femoral vessels, has been described was only o...
We have treated two patients who had an Achilles tendon and overlying tissue defect using an anterolateral thigh flap with fascia lata. Postoperatively, skeletal suspension of the affected leg and intra-arterial heparin infusion were performed for seven days. Six weeks postoperatively, the patients could walk again.

We describe a young man who suffered a severe mutilating injury of the hand and forearm while working as a cheesemaker. He underwent a complex reconstruction of his right adominant hand including a heterotopic thumb replantation into the distal radius and combined with an emergency flow-through anterolateral thigh flap.
This is the first instance where the technique of supercharging a flap with a second pedicle, combined with a third pedicle using the flow-through technique, is described in literature. We present the case of a 66-year-old man with multiple recurrent squamous and basal cell carcinomas of the face. He underwent a wide local excision resulting in a 20 × 26-cm defect. This was reconstructed with n...
The deep inferior epigastric artery perforator flap is an option for women desiring autologous tissue breast reconstruction. If this reconstruction fails, other autologous tissue flaps, including the gluteal artery perforator and latissimus dorsi flaps, may be used for salvage. The anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap offers adequate tissue volume for breast reconstruction, acceptable fat quality and...
The endoscopy-assisted technique has been demonstrated in harvesting muscle flaps; however, for pedicled freestyle fasciocutaneous flaps, few studies have applied this technique. We present a surgical procedure utilizing endoscopic-assisted method to identify the perforators of pedicled freestyle fasciocutaneous flaps for the reconstruction of soft tissue defects. From August to December 2012, ...
