Astrophysical observations originate from matter that interacts with radiation or transported particles. We develop a pragmatic approximation in order to enable multi-dimensional simulations with basic spectral radiative transfer when the available computational resources are not sufficient to solve the complete Boltzmann transport equation. The distribution function of the transported particle...

Measurements of angular correlations of hadrons with a (semi-)hard trigger hadron in heavyion collisions at RHIC show large angular structures opposite to the trigger which were a priori unexpected. These away side large angle correlations were first observed in two-particle correlations [1, 2] and have recently also been investigated in three-particle correlation measurements [3, 4]. We show t...

Modern cosmological observations allow us to study in great detail the evolution and history of the large scale structure hierarchy. The fundamental problem of accurate constraints on the cosmological parameters, within a given cosmological model, requires precise modelling of the observed structure. In this paper we briefly review the current most effective techniques of large scale structure ...

A systematic study of the strongly interacting matter under extreme conditions via the form of the thermal ratio of the disorder deviation is presented. The evolution of fermiand boseparticles (quarks and gluons) is studied in the framework of multi-particle correlation and distribution functions to predict the size of the finite-temperature deconfined phase. Key-words: multi-particle correlati...

Machine remaining useful life (RUL) prediction is a key part of Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), which provides the time evolution of the fault indicator so that maintenance can be performed to avoid catastrophic failures. This paper proposes a new RUL prediction method based on adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems (ANFIS) and high-order particle filtering, which predicts the time evolution...

Individual Ni(OH)2 nanoparticles deposited on carbon nanoelectrodes are investigated in non-ensemble measurements with respect to their energy storage properties and electrocatalysis for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Charging by oxidation of Ni(OH)2 is limited by the diffusion of protons into the particle bulk and the OER activity is independent of the particle size.

Using a more accurate effective Hamiltonian governig the time evolution in the particle–antiparticle subspace of states than the one obtained within the Lee–Oehme–Yang approach we show that in the case of particles created at the instant t = t0 only the masses of a stable particle and its antiparticle are the same at all t ≥ t0 in a CPT invariant system, whereas the masses of an unstable partic...

We study the effect of disorder on the particle density evolution in a classical Hamiltonian driven lattice setup. If the disorder is localized within a finite sub-domain of the lattice, the emergence of strong tails in the density distribution which even increases towards larger positions is shown, thus yielding a highly non-Gaussian particle density evolution. As the key underlying mechanism,...

The evolution of the surface morphology during exsolution of Ni from the perovskite La0.4Sr0.4Ti0.97Ni0.03O3-δ under reducing conditions was determined using atomic force microscopy. The exsolution process was found to initially induce the formation of a 20-30 nm deep pit on the oxide surface followed by the emergence of a Ni particle at the bottom of the pit. Continued emergence of the particl...

A high-order modelling approach to interpret “continental-type” particle formation bursts in the anthropogenically influenced convective boundary layer (CBL) is proposed. The model considers third-order closure for planetary boundary layer turbulence, sulphur and ammonia chemistry as well as aerosol dynamics. In Paper I of four papers, previous observations of ultrafine particle evolution are r...
