The short lived pincer complex [(C5H3N(CH2P((t)Bu)2)2)Ir(H)2(py)]BF4 is shown to be active for signal amplification by reversible exchange. This catalyst formulation enables the efficient transfer of polarization from parahydrogen to be placed into just a single molecule of the hyperpolarisation target, pyridine. When the catalysts (1)H nuclei are replaced by (2)H, increased levels of substrate...
NMR signal amplification by reversible exchange (SABRE) has been observed for pyridine, methyl nicotinate, N-methylnicotinamide, and nicotinamide in D2 O with the new catalyst [Ir(Cl)(IDEG)(COD)] (IDEG=1,3-bis(3,4,5-tris(diethyleneglycol)benzyl)imidazole-2-ylidene). During the activation and hyperpolarization steps, exclusively D2 O was used, resulting in the first fully biocompatible SABRE sys...
Inelastic scattering of 300-meV neutrons allows the study of the liquid ~T520 and 30 K, saturated vapor pressure! and solid ~T54.2 K, saturated vapor pressure! phases of the normal deuterium mixture ~ 2 3 o-D21 1 3 p-D2! in the region of momentum transfer where a single-molecule response is expected. The spectra are analyzed within the impulse approximation and assuming Gaussian momentum distri...
Motivation In the dawn of hyperpolarization (HP) of molecules in solution for biomedical application, the question of suitable instrumentation is imperative. Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) polarizers are commercially available, but rather cost-intensive. Nevertheless, DNP is used by an increasing number of laboratories, while Parahydrogen And Synthesis Allow Dramatically Enhanced Nuclear Al...
High-resolution stimulated Raman gain spectroscopy of the Q1(0) transition of para-H2 crystals with varying ortho-H2 concentrations is reported. A crystal containing 0.06% of ortho-H2 showed a single sharp Raman transition with the width of less than 7MHz. The Raman signal became broader with increasing concentration of ortho-H2 . At the concentration of 2%, the spectrum splits into a doublet. ...
We report new phenomena in low-field 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy using parahydrogen induced polarization (PHIP), enabling determination of chemical shift differences, δν, and the scalar coupling constant J. NMR experiments performed with thermal polarization in millitesla magnetic fields do not allow the determination of scalar coupling constants for homonuclear coupled spi...
We have observed sharp infrared spectral lines ( Deltanu approximately 60 MHz FWHM) in gamma-ray ionized para- H2 crystals. The lines are assigned to the Q1(0) transition of H2 near H+3 and H-, which becomes optically active and Stark shifted by the Coulomb fields of the ions. A simple model calculation gives a spectrum which agrees approximately with the observation. The spectrum stays the sam...
We use femtosecond optical Kerr effect (OKE) spectroscopy to perform time- and wavelength-resolved pump-probe measurements on the energetics and lifetimes of transverse optical phonons and J = 2 rotons in solid para-hydrogen (pH2). By systematically studying the OKE spectroscopy of pH2 in the gas, liquid, and solid phases for delay times up to 300 ps, we can disentangle homodyne and heterodyne ...
