Laboratory screening bioassays and field trapping experiments of spotted wing drosophila flies, Drosophila suzukii (Matsumura) (Diptera: Drosophilidae), were conducted to determine the attractiveness of 17 compounds as well as to compare attractant efficiency during peak fruit ripeness and postharvest captures late in the season. Compounds structurally related to each of the fermentation produc...

This project deals with the ripeness of oil palm fruit. The current procedure in the palm oil mills is grading the oil palm fruit manually using human graders. This method is subjective and inconsistence because each graders has its own techniques and may vary from each other’s. Hence, it affects the quality and quantity of the oil that can be extracted. In this project, a new model of automate...

This paper is concerned with nonlinear fractional differential equations with the Caputo derivative. Existence results are obtained for terminal value problems and initial value problems with initial conditions at inner points. It is also proved that the sufficient condition in order that a locally closed subset be a viable domain is the tangency condition. As a corollary, the existence of posi...

In this paper we study the problem of minimizing condition numbers over a compact convex subset of the cone of symmetric positive semidefinite n × n matrices. We show that the condition number is a Clarke regular strongly pseudoconvex function. We prove that a global solution of the problem can be approximated by an exact or an inexact solution of a nonsmooth convex program. This asymptotic ana...

The use of condition monitoring techniques within industry to direct maintenance actions has increased rapidly over recent years to the extent that it has marked the beginning of what is likely to prove a new generation in production and maintenance management practice. There are both economic and technological reasons for this development driven by tight profit margins, high outage costs and a...

Overmilking is a matter of concern because it may affect teat condition and udder health. The historic background for overmilking is mainly based on the assumption that all milk should be removed from the udder in order to maximise the milk yield. However, breeding for high milk yields has provided cows with a high alveolar capacity, large cistern capacity, and a higher proportion of cisternal ...

This paper presents an improved version of incremental condition estimation, a technique for tracking the extremal singular values of a triangular matrix as it is being constructed one column at a time. We present a new motivation for this estimation technique using orthogonal projections. The paper focuses on an implementation of this estimation scheme in an accurate and consistent fashion. In...

Papadatos, C., Alexiou, D., Nicolopoulos, D., Mikropoulos, H., and Hadzigeorgiou, E. (1974). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 49, 927. Congenital hypoplasia of depressor anguli oris muscle: a genetically determined condition? The frequency of hypoplasia of the depressor anguli oris muscle was 37 cases among 4 530 consecutive births (8 -2 %). Diagnosis was based on clinical and electromyographi...

The condition-based approach for consensus solvability (that we have introduced in a previous paper, ACM STOC’01) consists in identifying sets of input vectors for which it is possible to design a protocol solving the consensus problem for n processes despite the occurrence of up to f process crashes. For each value of f these conditions actually define a hierarchy. This paper continues our inv...

We give a simple characterization for a nonassociative algebra A, having characteristic 6= 2, to be commutative. Namely, A is commutative if and only if it is exible with a commuting set of generators. A counterexample shows that characteristic 6= 2 is necessary. Both the characterization and the counterexample were discovered using the computer algebra system in [2].
