Arteriovenous fistulae between the embryonic vessels situated in the midline are often associated with aneurismal dilatation of the great cerebral vein. These fistulae occur in the telencephalic, diencephalic, and mesencephalic segments of the primitive brain. The evolution of these malformations is described.

While adenocarcinomas have occasionally been reported in perianal fistulae, malignant changes occurring in rectovaginal fistulae are rare, with only a handful of reported cases. We report a 73-year-old woman with Crohn's disease who was diagnosed at an early stage with adenocarcinoma in a rectovaginal fistula. This rare disease poses many diagnostic challenges.

Two patients with renal arteriovenous fistulae are described, who presented in high output failure. Murmurs were detected in these patients on routine physical examination years before, and when cardiac failure ensued they were assumed to have decompensated valvar heart disease. Full investigation revealed the arteriovenous fistulae and both patients made a good recovery after surgical ligation.
