Francisella tularensis is the causative agent of the lethal disease tularemia. Despite decades of research, little is understood about why F. tularensis is so virulent. Bacterial outer membrane proteins (OMPs) are involved in various virulence processes, including protein secretion, host cell attachment, and intracellular survival. Many pathogenic bacteria require metals for intracellular survi...

To examine the hypothesis that the ancestral role of the toxR gene in the family Vibrionaceae is control of the expression of outer membrane protein (OMP)-encoding genes for adaptation to environmental change, we investigated the role of the toxR gene in Vibrio anguillarum, an important fish pathogen. The toxR gene of V. angullarum (Va-toxR) was cloned from strain PT-87050 isolated from disease...

Haemophilus parainfluenzae is often isolated from the sputa of patients with chronic obstructive lung disease. We have investigated the immune response to this organism in patients with chronic bronchitis (n = 3) and bronchiectasis (n = 10) and in healthy controls (n = 9). Outer membrane proteins (OMPs) of H. parainfluenzae were purified for use in enzyme-linked immunosorbent and immunoblot ass...

This letter presents a near production-ready algorithm to retrieve the height of biomass burning smoke and mineral dust aerosols as part National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA)’s Deep Blue aerosol data product suite. It utilizes enhanced spectral coverage achieved by using colocated from Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) Ozone Mapping Profiler Nadir Mapper (OMPS-NM), bo...

ObjectivesOrphan medicinal products (OMPs) often receive market authorization under conditions imposed by regulators for ongoing postauthorization surveillance (PAS) to answer questions that remain at the time of entry. This may be provided through industry-funded registries (IFRs). Nevertheless, data in these not sufficient quality and always accessible regulatory review. We propose a mandator...

The innovative and recently discovered n-damo process, based on anaerobic methane oxidation with nitrite, was developed in a membrane-based bioreactor evaluated terms of organic micropollutants (OMPs) removal. main singularity this study consisted the evaluation removal biological reactor. A strategy consisting progressively increasing nitrogen loading rate order to increase specific denitrific...

In Gram-negative bacteria, envelope stress signals such as unfolded outer membrane proteins (OMP) activate the periplasmic protease DegS. This protease then triggers a cellular pathway to alleviate the stress. Now Sohn et al. (2007) show conclusively that inhibition of DegS is relieved allosterically by binding of the C-terminal sequences in unfolded OMPs to the PDZ domain of DegS.

Chemical gas sensors suffers from the drawbacks such as high temperature ((>=300oC) and very high power consumption for sensing inflammable gases like CO, CH4 etc. In this work a new technique for thermal isolation in MEMS gas sensors is presented by coupling micromachining of bulk silicon and oxidized macro porous silicon (OMPS) layer to reduce the

Escherichia coli O56 were originally isolated from infected humans. Here it is reported that using the zwitterionic detergent (Zwittergent Z 3-14) to isolate outer membrane proteins (OMPs) from Escherichia coli O56 is suitable for their separation by two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) using pH 3-10 immobilized pH gradient IPG strips (BIO-RAD).
