When a loved one is admitted to a nursing facility, family members usually experience a variety of emotions. Feelings of guilt, fear, and distrust are common. The facility staff must make every effort to engage the family and establish trust to forge a constructive collaboration in the care of the nursing facility resident. Background & Aim: Social support is known as a factor in buffering negative effects of occupational stress. There are several stressful situations in nursing which could cause job dissatisfaction, low work performance, quit or turnover among nurses. These situations cause physical and mental problems which mostly lead to irreparable damages in nursing care. The purpose of this study is to deter...
INTRODUCTION People in various professions may face discrimination. In the nursing field, discrimination among nurses in the workplace, regardless of race, gender or religion have not been studied; a problem that leads to a reduction in the quality of nursing care and nurse turnover. Discovery of the concerns of nurses about inter-professional collaboration is the purpose of this study. METHO...
BACKGROUND The nursing shortage requires new graduate registered nurses (RNs) to work at the bedside, often leading to a shortened orientation period and increased stress. In the Married State Preceptorship Model (MSPM), the preceptor and the preceptee work together as the new graduate RN transitions to the bedside while maintaining safety and quality. This study explored first-year turnover ra...
BACKGROUND Although registered nurses (RNs) play a central role in the care of older persons, their work in elderly care has historically been described as "low status" in nursing. This is especially problematic due to the global issue of RN turnover, but there is still little evidence of how to change this trend. Better understanding is needed of the reasons why RNs work in elderly care, as we...

AIM This paper contrasts structural and managerial characteristics of low- and high-turnover hospitals, and describes the organizational configuration of attractive hospitals. BACKGROUND In countries facing nurse shortages and turnover, some hospitals succeed in recruiting and retaining nurses. In Magnet Hospitals, managerial practices and environmental characteristics increase nurses' job sa...
We give a simple explicit formula for turnover reduction when a large number of alphas are traded on the same execution platform and trades are crossed internally. We model turnover reduction via alpha correlations. Then, for a large number of alphas, turnover reduction is related to the largest eigenvalue and the corresponding eigenvector of the alpha correlation matrix.
More police reduces crime but little is know about the mechanism. Does more police deter crime by reducing its attractiveness, or is the reduction driven by an incapacitation of recurrent criminals? This paper exploits micro-level data on single robberies together with redeployments of two police forces within a city, providing first evidence of (negative) incapacitation that is driven by reduc...
