Drake, John W. (University of Illinois, Urbana). Multiplicity reactivation of Newcastle disease virus. J. Bacteriol. 84:352-356. 1962.-A very weak multiplicity reactivation occurs among Newcastle disease virus particles inactivated by ultraviolet irradiation. The preliminary steps in the infection of embryonic chicken fibroblasts are complex, and their relation to multiplicity reactivation is d...
Optimum conditions for growth and interferon production by a human lymphoblastoid cell line, Namalva, have been studied. Adaptation to large-scale production is possible utilizing either Sendai virus or Newcastle disease virus. Priming of cultures before induction is unnecessary. The interferon produced has properties similar to human leukocyte interferon. The production of lymphoblastoid inter...
Current control strategies for avian influenza virus, exotic Newcastle disease, and other highly contagious poultry diseases include surveillance, quarantine, depopulation, disposal, and decontamination. Skid steer loaders and other mobile equipment are extensively used during depopulation and disposal. Movement of contaminated equipment has been implicated in the spread of disease in previous ...
Newcastle disease virus (NDV) was isolated from a field outbreak in pigeons. The virus was characterized by haemagglutination test (HA) and confirmed by haemagglutination inhibition test (HAI). The pathotyping was done by mean death time (MDT), intracerebral pathogenicity index (ICPI) and intravenous pathogenicity index (IVPI). The ELD50 of the velogenic strain was 10/0.1 ml. Thirty-nine pigeon...
Rheumatoid and nonrheumatoid synovial cell cultures were challenged with Newcastle disease virus and rubella virus in an attempt to confirm reports that rheumatoid synovial cells are relatively resistant to infection with these viruses. Newcastle disease virus caused complete cell destruction by day 7 in both rheumatoid and nonrheumatoid cultures, and peak virus titers were similar. Rubella vir...
We report here the complete genome sequence of a Newcastle disease virus (NDV) isolated from a wild peacock. Phylogenetic analysis showed that it belongs to genotype II, class II of NDV strains. This study helps to understand the ecology of NDV strains circulating in a wild avian host of this geographical region during the outbreak of 2012 in northwest India.
The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of deitary protein density (low, medium and high) and nano adjuvant on performance, antibody titres against Newcastle disease and blood parameters of broiler chickens. Two hundred fourty one-day old Ross 308 broiler chickens were allocated to six dietary treatments based on a completely randomized design in a factorial arrangment of 2×3...
Goose/GD/2010 is a newly emerging Newcastle disease virus (NDV) isolated from a sick goose flock in southern China. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of this isolate, which belongs to NDV subgenotype VIIb. This is the first report about the complete genome information of an isolate of subgenotype VIIb in China.
The aim of this study was to optimise and evaluate an intracellular cytokine staining (ICS) assay for assessment of T cell IFN-γ responses in chickens vaccinated against Newcastle disease (ND). We aimed to validate currently available antibodies to chicken IFN-γ using transfected CHO cells. Moreover, this ICS assay was evaluated for use to detect mitogen and antigen induced IFN-γ production in ...
