This paper proposes a one shot normal form game of agreement formation. It introduces a new notion of strategy, which is, for each player, to say which of the possible agreements are acceptable. Therefore, the strategy is a vector of choices. For a given strategy profile, different sizes are then acceptable and it is assumed that the largest agreement is achieved. I propose a concept of strong ...

synthetic aperture radar (sar), which has been widely used for earth remote sensing, provides high resolution, day-and-night and weather-independent images for a multitude of applications. design of sar sensors has had some considerations, associated to sar systems issues (microwave propagation, antenna, orbit design and etc.). altitude and attitude errors of sar sensor have a direct effect on ...

In this study, soil samples were collected from a large-scale open-cast coal mine area in Inner Mongolia, China. Arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), beryllium (Be) and nickel (Ni) in soil samples were detected using novel collision/reaction cell technology (CCT) with inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS; collectively ICP-CCT-MS) after closed-vessel microwave digestion. Human health risk...

The acceptable range of speech level as a function of background noise level was investigated on the basis of word intelligibility scores and listening difficulty ratings. In the present study, the acceptable range is defined as the range that maximizes word intelligibility scores and simultaneously does not cause a significant increase in listening difficulty ratings from the minimum ratings. ...

Text recycling, also referred to as self-plagiarism, is the reproduction of an author's own text from a previous publication in a new publication. Opinions on the acceptability of this practice vary, with some viewing it as acceptable and efficient, and others as misleading and unacceptable. In light of the lack of consensus, journal editors often have difficulty deciding how to act upon the di...

Engineers of safety-critical systems have a duty to address ethical issues that may arise in the development, assessment, operation and maintenance of these systems. Dealing with ethical dilemmas during safety risk assessment is particularly challenging, especially when making and justifying decisions concerning risk acceptability. This is particularly complicated by organisational issues and c...

By learning a range of possible times over which the effect of an action can take place, a robot can reason more effectively about causal and contingent relationships in the world. However, learning these time windows in a noisy environment where random events interfere can pose a challenge. We present an algorithm for learning the interval [t1min , t1max ] of possible times during which a resp...

Objective: Acceptable Noise Level (ANL) has been established as a method to quantify the acceptance of background noise while listening to speech presented at the most comfortable level. The aim of the present study was to generate Danish, Swedish, and a non-semantic version of the ANL test and investigate normal-hearing Danish and Swedish subjects’ performance on these tests. Design: ANL was m...

In this paper we study the problem of linearly equalizing the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) communications channels from an H∞ point of view. H∞ estimation theory has been recently introduced as a method for designing filters that have acceptable performance in the face of model uncertainty and lack of statistical information on the exogenous signals. In this paper we obtain a closed-fo...

Acceptable random variables are defined in noncommutative (quantum) probability spaces and some of probability inequalities for these classes  are obtained. These results are a generalization of negatively orthant dependent random variables in probability theory. Furthermore, the obtained results can be used for random matrices.
